Before the fight various people here were picking Canelo to win because 'ggg has no defense' 'canelo is a big puncher' canelo had guys like kirkland and khan down for a few minutes. Boxers like Mayweather, Broner, and Gervonta Davis were picking Canelo by KO with ease but tonight his power was nowhere to be found. In addition Canelo's power punches caused GGG to laugh and chase him down even more as Canelo ran away. So what happened?

Triple G ate Canelo's Sustanon Sunday Best shots all night and laughed it off. Kept coming like the terminator.

GGG looked like Pennywise in that projector scene, he looked huge!

Canelo landed some crisp counters that no doubt got Golovkin's attention.

I feel GGG should have pursued Canelo with more aggression and that would have made all the difference.

GGG rocked Canelo a couple of times in there. I could see his legs go a bit on two ocassions.

Canelo however was never even able to make GGG stop coming forward. Other than the flashy pre-defined combinations which GGG was easily able to mostly block and back away from, Canelo looked like dog poo.

Canelo landed some one shot pot shots and GGG didnt even blink. But GGG does have an iron chin. If those had landed on an Amere Con then it would have been lights out.

He rocked him hard in round 9 right on the button and GGG wasn't even phased. That would have hattened most fighters.

The power is there....but Nelo was taking a lot of the mustard off the shots by moving away or rolling with the shots that did land. If Alvarez went toe to toe more in that fight the stoppage or knockout most likely would have manifested organically. But Nelo mitigated the risks by constantly moving throughout the 12 rounds.

Both men have good chins. Canelo didn't seem too bothered by Triple G's power. Canelo didn't really stop G from stalking him, but G grimaced a few times and had to pause and regain balance before stepping forward. Canelo did look to be the bigger more dangerous punches in there, mainly due to the fact that Canelo was much more sneaky with when he threw punches and many times he surprised G with punches when G didn't expect it. Canelo saw most of G's punches coming.

To an extent, but don't forget in the early rounds G was extremely cautious in there, more cautious than he's ever been. G didn't go balls to the wall either, there were rounds where G was the clear aggressor, but in the early rounds both men were fighting cautiously. I think it was round 4 where Canelo started backing up to the ropes and baiting G to chase him.

A guy who didn't dent Canelo isn't hurting GGG.

It's not going to happen, at least not with the current version of GGG.

Anyone who bought into "Canelo KO's GGG" probably also thought McGregor was going to beat Floyd.

GGG doesn't usually go full tilt in the early stages of the fight. He typically gets warmed up by round 3 unless he lands something early that gets his opponents attention. From the beginning to the end GGG was the aggressor but the early rounds saw Alvarez actually moving Golovkin back which was atypical. After Golovkin turned the corner in round 4 it was Cat and mouse. I think it's a stretch to say Nelo was baiting GGG aside from spots where Alvarez languished on the ropes and called him in. But that was only once or twice. Alvarez was being worn down both mentally and physically by the pressure Golovkin applied and that caused Alvarez to gas and retreat for 3/4 of the fight

Let's be real GGG clearly has more power and a better chin, but why was he the bloke scared of getting countered all night?

Canelo did what he pleased and GGG only ever looked good when he was taking rounds off.
