Talk of "rematch" and "a trilogy" (!) between Alvarez and Golovkin ?

    It's a little bit suspicious that persons surrounding the fight (Golovkin's camp ?) have already floated the idea of "a trilogy" in the run-up to this fight.

    It's a strange way to talk about a fight, since usually trilogies only come about after a 1-1 series between two fighters. ......

    It might be something that comes back to haunt them if the fight goes a certain way.

    I agree. How can people talk about trilogy before the first fight happens.

    Trilogy? Nah.

    Golovkin will batter Canelo so hard that his grandkids will have a stutter.

    When a fight promises to be competitive and action packed, talk of trilogy is usually not far behind($$$$$$$$$). But of course not all fights live up to their promise(see Canelo/Chavez Jr) and the talk of trilogy quickly disappears.

    They've talked about this since the fight was signed, both Oscar and Loeffler. Clearly it was one of the reasons Oscar was willing to do the fight.

    Yes, and what better way to construct a trilogy than take a draw for the first fight?

    I didn't quite see that coming but it makes perfect sense.

    The fight was entertaining enough though.

    The way I feel right now I don't even want to see a rematch between them. Corruption in boxing stinks and it does nothing but harm the sport. I said this would happen weeks ago, absolute bs.

    I think the fighters probably put on an honest fight but the fix was probably agreed pre fight. Ie. If Golovkin can't knock him out it will be a draw.
    When I say "agreed" I mean I think this was accepted either directly or subtly by the Golovkin camp because that's what it takes to get the fight on. And EVERYONE PROFITS from the trilogy they want.
    And the bookmakers always do okay with the draw too.
    It's much money for everyone.

    The only problem for Golovkin is he's not getting any better now. He's slipping, and Alvarez can improve. So a trilogy might go Alvarez 's way if they go down that road, even with proper judges.
