    had ggg been given the nod we would all be on here praising canelos performance. instead we get a controversial draw and one judge with a horrendous 118-110 decision.

    decision aside i felt it was a very entertaining, competitive fight between 2 high level boxers. the fight was action packed 12 rounds of thudding clean crisp shots and counters from 2 of boxings elite! unfortunately the decision tarnished what was imo the fight of the year.

    canelo was very impressive in going 12 rounds against the naturally bigger man and bigger puncher. he landed the cleaner more thudding shots throughout the fight imo and the bodywork he put in helped to take the ko power out of golovkins punches. i tip my hat off to canelo as i think his skills were superior and it was gggs natural size and strength advantage that gave him the visual edge that he deserved the win per se and rightfully so perhaps. i said since the beginning that if canelo made it all 12 it would be a close controversial ward/kovalev 1 type decision.

    in conclusion i would say a draw or 7-5 decision in gggs favor would have been a fair and reasonable outcome anything else would be biased according to different scoring criteria or a bias toward a particular fighter. had ggg been given the victory i feel there would be considerably less blowback about the decision and more praise for canelo.

    Your right he would, he fought so well but fell short, not as short as i thought he would though. I didnt think he had what it took to compete against the top Middles but he gave the best of them a real hard fight. He is a serious legitimate Middleweight and this fight stamped his presence right near the top of this division.

    Considering who he was up against i feel he probably did everything he could, left it all out there for sure. He was excellent and both of them made for a great fight to watch. I loved it and would love to see it happen again. Just not in Vegas.

    It's been my feeling all day, that the draw has actually hurt Canelo. Had he gone down to a close decision he would of got props all round. Now he's the bad guy. Boxing politics suck

    Canelo's shots were memorable because there wasn't many shots thrown throughout. His style is like Abraham, bursts of countering and hiding for the rest of the round. GGG from rd 2 was a non-top barrage of jabs which kept hitting their mark. If Canelo was countering all fight, than this talk of it being a draw or even a Canelo win would be understandable. He never did it enough, his lack of stamina was the cause. GGG even at 35 has the far superior engine to Canelo, and that's why he won. He outworked him.

    most people thought canelo would be blown out, knocked out etc etc, i thought he did a great job considering he should never have fought above 154 and the fact he was up against a killer.

    canelo keeps improving by leaps and bounds and i feel he would dominate and own 154 if he could keep his weight closer to his natural size but there is not much money to be made there.

    Canelo fought well landing the cleaner harder shots a draw was fair, hell if he got a close win it would be fair.

    I disagree with op, GGG nuthuggers would be unbearable claiming he got schooled

    Exactly, you got booed for a reason. He's an arrogant *******. And with fishnets on his side, he'll continue to get these bs judges to help him out.

    there would be some trolls yes but i think the majority of observers would have given more props and respect had canelo lost and been gracious in defeat.

    I don't know why some of you gents think that Canelo was not a true middleweight. He has been a true middleweight for some. He wasn't a true light middleweight. He wasn't training to put on weight, his training involved losing weight to get to the middleweight limit.

    I personally give Canelo props. He was a lot better than we thought he would be, and it's clear that he trained his ass off for the fight. He doesn't control the judges. He did what he was supposed to do: fight hard.

    Frankly I thought that once it got to the cards that Golovkin would get robbed as we all thought he would. At least that never happened.

    GGG's wind milling air was memorable? Outworked him in windmiling air! :risas3:

    Effective aggression? He looked clumsy and like an amateur. Canelo took him to school!

    GGG punches missed per round:

    1. = 28

    2. = 32

    3. = 33

    4. = 30

    5. = 28

    6. = 29

    7. = 30

    8. = 25.

    9. = 34

    10. = 18

    11. = 20

    12. = 35

    Total punches missed = 342
