Had it a draw. GGG was strong down the stretch . But im not tricked by pressure and punches. Hardly any GGG punches landed clean. Canelos punches were clean and accurate . just less
115-113 GGG and in that i gave close round to Canelo on the basis that close rounds go to the money man.
Golovkin clearly beat Canelo this time. But he's getting old and is right on the brink. Next time it could be a clear draw or a Canelo victory since Canelo is smack dab in his prime. Golovkin hasn't had the kind of opponents he needed to be a great name in boxing, but a duo or trilogy with Canelo for his final fights would be huge and do way more for his reputation than cleaning up the division with Saunders or some other contender. Like it or not, Canelo is the second or third best middleweight right now and was highly competitive with Golovkin and capable of giving him good classic fights. He can also bring the audience and money that none of the other middleweights can. This could be very good for Golovkin, if Goldenboy doesn't lowball him or postpone the next fight another year to make Golovkin decline some more.
I was wrong about the 7th. I rewatched it a couple hours after that post and rescored, and posted when I did. Live I posted that Canelo won the 7th "on defence", which suggests that Canelo wasn't actually landing much of anything. I maintain it was a competitive round however. Golovkin landed several heavy punches, cut the ring off more effectively than earlier, and controlled it with pressure, but he didn't beat up, outclass, or outpunch Canelo through three minutes, in fact neither guy did so in any round. Canelo slipped and evaded a lot in the 7th, and landed a perfect counter uppercut. Clear Golovkin round though yes, as clear as the 10th and 11th when Canelo did some of his best, cleanest work, but only in spots, and I think had to be GGG rounds. The 1st remains the only round that I think could go either way. The 6th and 12th I think were as clear for Canelo as any Golovkin round. I got the 7th wrong live, I didn't appreciate the change in control that round. But otherwise my score was fine--a fight that was more competitive than 8-4 suggests, but that GGG clearly deserved.

And the same percentage that lick his nutz are saying he won when the rest of the world saw it differently.
Canelo fought a Mayweather style fight. The same style Mayweather used when he took him to school. The only difference is that GGG didn't fight like him when he fought Mayweather. GGG came for that ass with the intent to do great bodily harm.
