Why can't boxing fans be happy about both Canelo and GGG?

In my eyes, we're blessed with two exceptional boxers, both future HOFers going at it at middleweight. We're lucky to witness this as boxing fans, with hopefully 1-2 rematches coming our way. Yet, all I see here are people hating on each other, even writing off boxing as a sport as a result. Why?

    Marvin - Hagler
    Ali - Frazier
    Holyfield - Bowe
    Lewis - Holyfield

These eras were highlights of boxing -- whenever one exceptional boxer met his equal. Not times during which fans hated on the sport. It shouldn't be different this time around.

The 118-110 card was created to build hate for Canelo Alvarez. There's no ****ing way that Canelo won 10 rounds...PERIOD.

I am not a fan of either guy...meaning that I have no real cheering interest when they fight. However I define myself as a boxing fan, and an immense appreciator of both guys. I am more partial to Canelo's style (perhaps why I scored the fight 6-5-1 in his favor).

Both guys are great in different ways, people who call themselves boxing fans, can only prove thier guy is great if they show thier comparison is not. Perhaps both guys are great and only who is greater should be evaluated. Can't wait for the 2nd fight

Boxing fans are just toxic in general to be honest, most are cut your nose off to spite your face types.

A part from the 118 to 110 card I had no problem with the other two cards. 115 to 113 would not have been bad. I have no issue with the draw. Both fighters think they were robbed. The media is ruining boxing in my opinion just like they are ruining the country.

1 round and hearns was a beaten man
1 great round is not my definition of a great fight.
If hearns had a great chin it could've been a truly great fight, very far from a great fight imho

I'm actually happy neither lost (on paper) because I'd love watching these two getting it on again and again.

I expected much more from CA but when the beast of ggg is hunting you every minute of every round I'm happy CA found a way to survive and even strive in spurts.

CA might be the most under rated fighter on this board, he's truly a great great fighter

I am a Golovkin fan, but I don't have a problem with Canelo. I did, once, when I thought that he was dodging Gennady, but he took the fight in the end and for me that closes the chapter on that issue.

In fact, I think Canelo proved more than GGG.

I genuinely thought Golovkin had a good chance for the KO, and up to the 9th the fight was going more or less exactly as I thought it would.

In the 10th Canelo rallied his forces and put in a great effort in 11 and 12. I never thought he'd have been able to, but he did. He proved that his speed and power carried up, he proved that his skills are the real deal and that his chin is top shelf. In fact I think his chin is better at 160 than it was at 154. Canelo proved he belonged at 160 when I had my doubts about that.

The rematch is going to be awesome.

I am a fan of both although very much not a fan of Oscar and GBP. Fight was great, Golovkin gave me what i expect from Golovkin apart from some body work that wasnt there on Saturday, Canelo i thought exelled and have to tip my hat to him i really didnt think he could hang with GGG.

I have absolutly no complaints about the fight i really enjoyed it and hope they do it again. I thought GGG won and thought the 114-114 was harsh on him. The Byrd card was just mental and threw a little negativity towards Canelo who had just fought (IMO) out of his skin which was harsh on him also.

As i said i think Golovkin won the fight but Canelo really should of won the evening with that performance. But thanks to that card the night didnt taste as sweet as it really should of for the fighters or the fans.
