He does tend to gas but I thought that was purley because he's killing himself getting down to 154ish Even at 160 where he wouldn't be killing himself to make weight he seemed to gas around 4th or 5th round. Has stripping off that weight has a permanent effect on his gas tank? If he didn't gas I think he may have won quite comfortably
Well I thought the same that 160 would suit his tank better but look Canelo has always been a short, stocky middleweight and with the muscle he just put on he's actually still cutting loads of weight which is fine and how he does,I don't think there will be many haters now he's fighting in a division with guys his own weight. You're right though he still tires after three rounds,I never realised how good he were actually until other night and he could pace himself over those first three rounds and still win em I reckon.
Anyone would be tired if they were on their bike for 12 rounds The roids massively helped him survive
Canelo's gas tank is fine I think, not the best like GGG but fine. He could flurry & throws punches all night but only 2/3 of the time in each round whereas GGG can be active all round every round.
He finished strongly, so I don't think it's as bad as it was when he was killing himself to make weight. I don't think he gassed in the middle rounds, his work rate didn't drop. He didn't fade, Golovkin just started finally to get going and upped his work rate. Golovkin threw more punches in round 5 than rounds 1 and 2 combined.
It's poor. He was exhausted halfway through the fight. It's actually a good indication he's not on PEDs. Also the intensity of the fight, and nerves, was exhausting for both fighters, I thought.
It's fine. not great but certainly good enough. He has fought 12 rounds on several occasions and has always boxed in spurts. He even fights in spurts over his short fight like with Kirkland. It's just how he fights and not necessarily indicative of a conditioning problem. Sure it could be better but what part of nay fighters game could not be at least slightly improved.
His stamina needs work. It's always been seen as a problem for him. I mean, it was impressive that he moved around the ring constantly for 12 rounds. But It would have served him well if he could have been able to produce more consistent offense as well on Saturday
He's always had stamina issues. Some people are just born with good stamina and others aren't, no matter how hard they train. Manny Pacquiao, Aaron Pryor, Sugar Ray Leonard, for example, had great stamina. Riddick Bowe looked flabby in the Evander Holyfield rematch but threw 65 punches per round. Oscar De La Hoya didn't have the best gas tank even when he trained very hard (I presume), perhaps because he was a tense fighter. Fights in which he closed strong, he had also taken off the previous couple rounds (he pretty much did nothing in the previous 5 rounds with Quartey). Canelo has to pick his spots because he just doesn't have the best gas tank.
