He is still talking fightiing De La Hoya and Pavlik next were there's no chance of those fights happening any time soon. Is out of his mind Yes Or No.

People get bored in their retirement and try to pretend to themselves that they're still relevant.

I consider Winky retired until he proves otherwise.

Even though you can still argue that Wright is somewhere in the P4P list, he's going to end uo being a gatekeeper - he can't get big fights anymore - too old, not exciting enough style. I think his best option is a fight at 168 with Taylor. The rematch would have some appeal and might kickstart the winner in the super middle division. Who knows Winky and Kessler could go at it if Wright won.

Winky thinks his name is actually more than what he's worth. Instead of being realistic with his demands - he tends to go overboard and get ahead of himself.

He should have taken the fight against Kessler that HBO offered to him - but ego and pride may be his downfall. Funny how everyone has had a fight or two since his last fight. Until he lowers his demands - he's going to find himself with these type of problems for the rest of his career.

Again, Winky went up in weight ( 10 pounds north) to do business with GBP and said in the post-fight interview July 07 that he's a junior-middleweight and a middleweight and wants Oscar... That's the deal he's looking for and Oscar heard him in the ring when he was talking to Max. Kelly can well face him since he's taking on guys like Gary Lockett ( and John Duddy) and possibly a winner of Lorenzo - Marquez... Winky beat Tito 12 rounds to none, drew with Taylor, beat Quartey and lost a close one to Hops at 170 - how can those DLH and KP fights make no sense? It may make no sense to Hoya and Pavlik...

I wouldn't have said that the Hopkins fight was that close, I agreed with a certain judge who had it 116-112.

The Kessler fight would have been a good one but still a L for the Winkster, who needs to be south of 160, as his power would be no good at 168, and he would be sluggish around the ring.

I'd like to see it. Winky got a great chance beating Pavlik despite his size disadvantage. Pavlik is strong but still lacks the advance boxing.

Winky should have rematched Jermain right away.

This is an insane thread. There are few established names in boxing at all at ANY weight division. Winky is a great win for any fighter from 154 to 175.

Even if he's lost a step, he's still a great opponent. He's not going to get KO'ed and he STILL has the will to win.

This thread is typical of the WORST types of boxing fans who hate on anyone with ambition or drive.

no he is not out of his mind..

lets take a look at his notable wins..

mckart 3x, mosley 2x, trinidad, quartey

    draw with taylor

at least he has more of a case to have a fight with DLH rather than forbes

if he can still make 154, his best choice is either forrest or phillips and stop dreaming about big fights. He lose and he needs to get a win before making dreams about big money fights

Agreed, and he should never have fought Hopkins. Dumb move.

Would be good fights. He would whip Oscar and has a good chance of beating Pavlik. But realistically he's not going to get these fights and needs to fight some other names and some W's under the belt.
