Oh stop it you negative nelly!

The list is so subjective, it depends on your criteria. I think a base of 50% accomplishments 50% potential is a decent starting place.

GGG for me with the winner of Lomochenko vs Rigondeaux in the wings. Crawford needs to fight the mega matches against Thurman and Spence.

I would say vacant but if I have to say anyone it would be either Crawford or Loma.

I say GGG until the Loma/Rigo fight. If one of them wins in outstanding fashion.. then I give it to them

    Tough call this tbh.

If Golovkin wins a rematch with Canelo it's clearly him, there's no argument otherwise. And same vice versa.

Actual talent wise it's between Loma and Crawford.

I suspect Loma is the real deal but his close loss to Salido still holds against him. I also suspect Crawford is the real deal but he lacks the stand out names on his resume.

For me personally I think the loss to Salido is questionable as he came in over weight so had a natural advantage. I also think the resume criticisim of Crawford is void because he beat the number 1 fighters in his his two divisions quite comfortably.

That being said, if Rigo wins against Loma he's a sure fire number 1 no matter what else happens.

Inoue, not for me, he's that quality but not enough to take top spot. It's a shame really because hindsight tells us he would have knocked out Gonzalez and took that spot from him.

Surprised Mikey Garcia hasn't been mentioned.

I feel I've waffled a bit here, I'll try to summise my thoughts.

Golovkin if he beats Canelo is number 1
Canelo if he beats Golovkin is number 1
Rigo if he beats Loma is number 1 regardless of any other result.
As it stands right now Crawford probably deserves it ahead of anyone else.

    Something like

    Crawford
    Golovkin
    Lomachenko

But it's all up for grabs.

How is Golovkin #1? He hasn't looked good in his last 2 fights.

And IMO, Rigo shouldn't even be in the top 10 P4P. He hasn't done **** since beating Donaire.

    I agree with that.

The P4P #1 has been sort of a free for all since Mayweather retired IMO.

It pretty much is/was going between Crawford, Golovkin, Canelo, and Ward IMO.

Between Crawford and Loma for me. Since I had Golovkin beating Canelo I'd put him ahead.

I haven't felt this sucker punched by the sport since Byrd-Williamson failed to even be nominated for Fight of the Year.

I don't think there is a clear #1 now Ward's gone. I think it's a toss up between Crawford and GGG. Golovkin has better wins on his record imo (I personally include Canelo as one of those) but I see Crawford as being the better fighter. I'm gonna say Crawford for now but with no clear number 1.

Tbh, Lomachenko could be #1 after his next fight but he hasn't got the wins on his record yet to match his incredible ability.
