After watching the fight again against Lazcano ... Hatton didn't seem to be himself and its starting to make me wonder if Floyd did really set the blue print on Hatton. He was taking some clean shots and showed hurt a few times against a fringe contender. It hurts me to say this because I thought that the physicality of Hatton will give Malignaggi trouble but i'm starting to wonder if Malignaggi will send Hatton into perminant retirement ... I think that Malignaggi can outbox him ... and if its in the states ... where Hatton isn't protected by judges and refs ... he stands the chance of getting embarrassed and beat.
How can you say you watched Hatton that night so you think he's going to lose......when Malignaggi fought on the same night and looked absolutely ****?
I would give Malignaggi a chance if the fight is held in the States with the biased refs and judges like we have seen in the past, but on neutral ground, Hatton takes him out
im really not sure, i think hatton will still take confidence from his win and i think it will take someone at the very highest standard to outbox ricky hatton for 12 rounds and im sorry thats not malignaggi
Hatton will spank Malignaggi's ass no matter what. It was great seeing the "nice guy" Teddy Atlas make joke after joke to Paulie's face about that ******ed ass hair.
Malignaggi was worse than Hatton that night, against an opponent that stylistically should make him look fantastic. He let N'dou plod him down, and got into a scrappy inside war, and barely pulled it out. The whole thing with his ***git hair was a complete farce, and he did nothing to enhance his reputation nor his chances against Hatton
No, he won't lose to Malignaggi. Malignaggi was pushed close to the edge by, in all honesty, a trundler. N'Dou isn't exactly world class and could be said to be a poor version of Ricky Hatton, i.e. likes to come forward and attack - you don't have to go looking for him. Hatton, on the other hand, faced albeit a guy who was past his best, but came with nothing to lose, and was ready to have a fight. All this about Hatton and punch resistance - total bollocks. He has always been easy to hit, and Lazcano isn't exactly feather fisted - the fight was all about Ricky getting the confidence back to walk through punches, which he did do largely throughout, and emerged a clear winner. Malignaggi will receive the beating of his life against Hatton - he will be thrown around the ring like a rag doll, and will lose a clear UD or late stoppage. But hey, he won't care - the only bigger payday's in boxing are against DLH and PBF, and they are fighting each other!
your off of your ****ing rocker, paulie isn't even in the same LEAGUE as Hatton. Hatton is a world class champion, Paulie is an overated showboat who couldn't knock out a lightbulb
Hatton will probably just outwork him. Malignaggi should use his speed to his advantage and counter punch more.
Hatton wont lose this. witter is even better then malignaggi and bradely is better then him and hatton is better then all of them. this also means that malignaggi is in fith place after ricardo torres. hatton wont lose because malignaggi can't KO him because he lacks power. and he wont get a UD because hatton is very good at holding/clinching. and hatton is strong. i see this as a UD for hatton 112-116. no knockdowns either side but one point deduction when hatton hits him in the back of the head.
Not-all-tHatton. Very flawed, medicore performance. Almost dusted by a fringe opponent. Gift time-outs by the ref. The Malignaggi who fought Cotto certainly has a chance to beat him, wherever that guy is. If nothing else, Malignaggi could pummel him with his hair extensions for twelve rounds.
Write this one down - when the going gets tough, Paulie will go somewhere else. I don't think you can outslick tough opponents if you don't have a fighter in you and Mayweather had. In theory, Paulie is a better boxer but he simply can't take it from Hatton... Which means that even if he lasts the distance ( and I believe he would/will), Ricky's fighting advantages will have most rounds won for him...
Hatton is vulnerable to a speedy counter puncher, ala Mayweather, but who isn't? 1. Paulie is orthodox - no trouble for Hatton (who struggles with southpaws) 2. Paulie is naturally smaller than Hatton 3. Paulie can't punch If Hatton can walk through most of what Lazcano is throwing he would certainly be able to walk Paulie down - no amount of running away can impress judges. Ricky also has a much higher workrate - and if he catches Paulie with a couple of liver shots early I see an early night for the Hitman. The only real threat to Hatton at 140 is Torres for me, as he can really punch - but Ricky has dealt with every puncher put in front of him thus far (most recently Castillo and Urango) with relative ease. Bradley is a good up and coming fighter, but isn't in Hatton's class - his biggest win was against a lazy and unmotivated Witter (good though it was), whilst Kotelnik took 12 to KO Gavin Rees. This is the proverbial sacrificial lamb prior to a mega fight next year. My money is on a Hitman vs Pacman showdown early next year - on the proviso that Pac carries his power and speed up to 135.
