Here's a link to an article where Gary Lockett talks tough. Can't blame the guy for trying to show some confidence, but some of his references seem a bit delusional. He referred back to Kelly getting tagged in the 2nd round of his 7th fight. He forgot to mention two points: 1) Pavlik knocked the guy out in the 3rd round: 2) The poor ******* never fought again. http://www.setantasports.com/en/Sport/News/Other-sports/2008/06/05/Boxing-Lockett-on-Pavlik/?facets/great-britain-locale/sport-space/boxing/
Boo, I just started a thread too with Pavlik is going to be on ESPN Chat today at 2:30 pm. You should hit the link and drop a question for Pavlik. Learned last time, the questions sent in an hour early are the ones that go up on that board.
Lockett's trouble sleeping won't be a problem come Saturday night, it'll be more of a concern after he doesn't wake up for a bit.
If you were 25/1 underdog wouldn't you look back at the videos and see things to give you hope? I havn't seen that Pavlik fight, but if he looked a bit wobbly I could see why that would encourage The Rocket man
You have to go back 14 fights to find a Lockett loss. Someone posted that fight on here, and we all agreed the tape was to old to be useful. Going back to Kelly's 7th fight is the same thing, and it would be foolish to rely on information that old.
I doubt he's relying on it, he knows he's a massive underdog and he's just trying to boost his fragile confidence, its for his own mental preperation Christ, Lockett has been perfectly reaslitic and reasonable in his assesments and he's getting shot down. What is he supposed to say, 'I've not seen a single weakness in Pavlik, I'm gonna get my ass whooped?'
Come on! Get real! If he said he hadn't seen a single weakness I would say; "This guy knows nothing about boxing!" "I'm gonna get me ass whooped" would be a realistic assesment!
Lockett went 12 rounds with Ryan Rhodes, & his last opponent was a glass jawed feather fist. What do you think will happen when Pavlik unleashes those bombs on him? PAVLIK KO ROUND 3.
"As I keep saying, weve got a game plan and were going to stick to it. And if worse comes to the worse and I get dropped Ive got to get back up and stick to the plan." I think the "get back up" will be the problem for him in this one.
