Did Canelo vs Golovkin doing over 2 mill buys suprise you?

Seems like it did 4.4 mil in the US. Supposedly broke the UK PPV record.

 

I predicted around 2 million so I wasn't surprised but happy. I could have easily seen it do less

Mayweather's attempt to siphon off viewers from GGG/ Canelo may have backfired on him. I personally visit many other fora on different topics and whenever I saw McMay mentioned I made sure to bring up GGG/Canelo as the real deal. I'm sure I'm far from being the only one.

 

I thought it would do around 1.5 mil ppv... I'm glad they did over 2 mil... imagine if the May weather fight wasn't 3 weeks before... it would have done even more... but good for both fighters. They deserve it

 

No it didn't surprise me.

I think some of the casuals who saw Mayweather/McGregor actually ended up enjoying it, because they were too stupid to realize Floyd was playing possum the entire match.

These fans may have become interested in boxing again.

Also Canelo has a BIG fan base, and they want to see him in good fights, they don't want to see him fighting guys like Angulo/Kid Ganja/Liam Smith.

He sells a decent bit on his own, and with Golovkin who has built a smaller fan base, both of their fans were excited to see the fight. All the people I watched the fight with wanted Alvarez to win starting out, but they became GGG fans.

Alvarez and Canelo in the same fight brought more viewers than them fighting any other two boxers could have.

 

Imagine if they fought GGG and Golovkin.

 

No surprise at all, it should have done even better, but we had the fake WWE Void/Conor circus, Void fighting someone with a 0-0-0 record, wow, I'm impressed! What if Golovkin decides to fight a 0-0-0 fighter, would he get credit for it like Void?
