We saw a real good performance from OHD last night, in what could be termed, a brutal beatdown of Tom Farrell. OHD picked up the wba international belt iirc? and after the fight in interview, whilst giving Farrell a load of praise and respect, told us that for the Taylor camp, everything seemed to be off and they (he) didnt have a good camp at all. Apparantly This was the reason for his defeat vs Taylor. Eddie then went on to say that will look for the rematch further down the line For the record i do think that ohd was still in that fight vs taylor altho i do think it would of took a stoppage from him to beat taylor at that point, there was still a chance he could pull it off. But instead he decided to quit. Lets say that ohd did have a bad camp there. The fact that he knows taylor better now would anyone think he could win a rematch. He looked good last night. I know boxing is about levels and for all farrell heart he just wasnt on ohd level. Tbf ohd looked in a lot better shape last night than he did against taylor. What does people think? Could ohd pick up a strap down the line? Could he beat taylor in a rematch?
Not sure how far he can go, but I'm definitely glad to see him looking undamaged from the Taylor loss. Young, undefeated prospects should face off more often and the more examples of losing not being the end of the world, the better. It's difficult to gauge where his celing is because we don't know where Taylor's is.
He looked good last night because he was pummelling someone who was absolutely Michael Knight. His attitude after the Josh Taylor fight absolutely stank. ‘Don’t f*****g care, got paid a hundred G, going on holiday’. He wasn’t even in the least bit embarrassed about his carry on. Taylor will beat him in a hundred rematches.
He will get found out against higher opposition. Tom Farrell froze and barely threw a punch back. It's about levels. Farrel found out his level last night and Ohara found out his against josh Taylor. I think Ohara may have world class power though and could cause a couple of upsets along the way. He exciting to watch as well.
He's clearly an ontop fighter, who can look good against static/orthodox opponents. Taylor completley outclassed him, it wasn't even close which is the sticking point for me. If I was Frank Warren, if as expected Catteral does a job on Nurse and wins the British I would put in a big offer to OD. I think Jack would completley outbox him but it would be a big fight.
I don't buy the whole 'we had a terrible camp' line from OHD. I just think Taylor is a level above him but with the Tartan Spartan tipped as being the future of 140 that may mean OHD can still succeed at the top table.
Taylor showed that OD just isn't close to world level, and I don't think he ever will be. However, when Crawford moves up the belts will be up for grabs and I can see OD being managed well enough into a title shot.
How many times do u hear I had a bad camp. Wats wrong with saying I got beat I'll learn from it and become a better fighter. I'm unsure how far he will go but he does look very heavy handed. Imo he sud look at the winner of nurse catterall in a few weeks for British title.
If he's prepared to learn the basics he can go a long way. Lack of fundamentals cost him against JT. He has the bombs...now he needs to develop a delivery system for those bombs. Can he do it? I dunno. But if he can marry some defensive Skills to his obvious power he can go far....
He's miles away from world class. His zero amateur experience has left him struggling badly for any real boxing technical ability. He's got a punchers chance until he comes up against any real class, such as Taylor, who made him look like the novice he really is.
I like Ohara Davies, I said that in build up to Josh Taylor fight, he brings something different & he's unorthodox. He sells fights, takes chances & fights on away card time and again. His confidence can come across as put on at times, it looks like he's conflicted with how he wants to behave & he suffers doubts now and again. I was impressed last night within a context. He imposed himself, backed his ability & power and took the fight to Farrell. He didn't show any negative signs from Taylor loss or doubts he could win the fight, so he done what he was supposed to do and looked good doing it. The thing is though, he made the same mistakes last night VS a fighter who could not take advantage & now the same people who said he loaded up too much, went all in VS Taylor and paid the price are now saying (seen a lot of this on twitter) he should have fought like this VS Taylor. He did. And he was made to miss & countered time and time again. He hurt Farrell plenty, barely moved Taylor. Farrell had no power or way of bullying OD, Taylor did. Farrell couldn't take away the jab (better southpaw though) and Taylor did. A rematch, regardless of when & where will go the same way. However. I like OD VS most if not all domestic UK 140 pound fighters. I'd need to really look at each match up to be sure of picking winner but I could make a case for OD against most right now. And even at Euro level I think Davies holds his own, long term he might even pick up a 'World Title' with Crawford out the way. But he'll always be there to be outmaneuvered/outboxed by a technician with a boxing brain & enough power to keep him honest. Anyone who takes away the jab & takes his power will give him nightmares as he relies on jab for distance & timing of the right hand. He's difficult at range to hit with more than single shots & outwith Taylor, to be completely fair OD has hardly lost a round, let alone looked like being beaten so his awkwardness, skill set, power & reach at this level are very handy. Bold prediction. I think he'll pick up a WBO/IBF/WBC/WBA title before he's done but there is no chance he becomes a dominant champ or number 1 in the division. At worst, he'll have some great domestic/Euro level fights and make some cash. Overhyped by some, under appreciated by others. Good fighter but not a great fighter. I like watching him though.
Still Taylor as far superior technician & enough power to keep OD honest but Taylor said he didn't turn pro after 2012 Olympics as he wasn't seasoned enough so experience does count.
