Iv seen Eddie on at least 3 occasions over the past couple of weeks telling us about his new venture in the usa of signing and promoting fighters and shows over in the US.
in the last interview he said, "i want to be the top promoter over in the us in the near future."
He said he expects to do it quicker than he did over here.
Hes now signing US fighters and he says hes going to start with 5 US shows next year. Hes got some airtime with HBO and from the attitude hes projecting...hes very confident in his claims.
Do people tgink he can change US boxing like he has UK.
hows he going to do this?

It all depends on who he manages to sign?

I believe Hearn could make fighters like Spence and Crawford stars, its just whether he can sign fighters like that.

I don't see him taking over but he should be able to get himself a decent piece of the pie.

Can't see him being top because I don't know if he can get as strong of a stable as Top Rank.

He may be onto something tho, I saw an interview ages ago where he said at the Degale jack fight the atmosphere was just strange compared to uk, people being quiet etc

In UK boxing has become like a night out for people and if he can get that concept over there in USA people could enjoy his events

Not sure yet, although Miller making big noises, and Jacobs stock has risen after GGG so his first card will get some attention, good start.

    Who knows.

He is obviously a very switched on individual. Regardless of the fact he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and inheritied Matchroom as an already established brand, what he's managed to do with it over the years is still very impressive. He certainly knows how to package it all up and create an atmosphere at events that make the punters want to go back.

Most of his success comes down to the fact he won an exclusive deal with Sky so has managed to run away with it over here. There is a lot more broadcasting competition over in the States so whether this will have any impact on him becoming "top promoter" out there remains to be seen.

He gets on my nerves, but I'd still like to see him be succesful out there.

Not sure. Hearn's shows are successful here because everything is marketed to the casual football crowd. He's a great promoter but the American fan is different. I just don't know if his prototype of boxing event will work over there. Because here it's all about the booze, the night out, sweet Caroline etc..

Also what will be price his future PPVs at in America? Will he follow the OTT circa $100 pricing model stateside or will he come in cheaper at the same level of the U.K. ones?

In summary I think he will be successful but the approach will surely have to be different.

I think HBO are intrigued by Hearn and what's going on over here and they want to get involved with Joshua etc so they're happy to work with him in the interim. As for some kind of take over.. absolutely no way.

HBO will no doubt have final say on any PPV price point.

That's what i'm thinking,he needs marketable Fighters, which is what HBO are interested in.But the funny thing is Hearn has one and is the biggest fighter in a divison which HBO has always loved and been affiliated with,is signed up with their biggest threat and rivals,Showtime.I dont see how that can work. But then if we want to see Joshua v Wilder,it has to stay that way for the foreseeable future,as it's easier to make without the broadcasting politics and the he does not want to mess up relations with Showtime, who have a ton of exciting fighters,as well as Showtime and Sky having a good relationship in other areas.

That's what I was thinking as well, but then you only have to look at UFC and the types of crowds they draw and the atmosphere it creates, it's very similair to a Matchroom show (maybe aside from their old Warrington ones in Leeds).

Can we expect the yanks to be singing sweet catoline?
I did actualy see an int the other day were he said, every culture likes a knees up and a sing song.
I think this will be his angle for making boxing a good night out in the usa

Yeah fighters like porter, monroe jr,Broner, those type of fighters, one's who are washed up and need air time as they are not priority on PBC or Showtime.Remember what makes Matchroom USA attractive is purely that you can be on HBO not the fact that Hearn is this Saviour or anything. It's like here in the uk you get a chance to fight on Sky Box Office from ITV or Channel 5.The fighters he needs and HBO wants, like Crawford,Spence,Thurman are not going anywhere.

he should go all out for Spence, he's way too inactive and could be huge if he was promoted properly
