I mean there is an advantage only in that there is an obvious reason one might want to do it, not in the sense that it's a superior technique at all times in all contexts.
That doesn't mean holding your hands low is the better technique or even a serviceable technique when all the advantages and drawbacks are known and weighed. But it most assuredly does mean that the present critiques, and the logic behind them, are shaky at best.

Most of these critiques rest heavily on the premise that something so obvious as holding one's hands up never even occurred to the old timers, which is flatly absurd and can just be cavalierly swept right off the table.

For all I know guys like McVey and Seamus and Mrkoolkevin may ultimately be right in their basic conclusion -but they damn sure aren't right for the reasons professed.

Does Maxim rate all time status for beating SRR? Did Gatti rate ATG status for beating up Gamache? Does Schmelings greatness hinge on his fight with Walker? How about Dempsey's fight Carpentier? Louis and Conn? Tyson's destruction of Spinks? NO then neither should Jeffries for beating men alot smaller....no one is criticizing him for being 220 how do you guys read into pointing out his advantage as criteria to put his power and greatness into question he simply did not overwhelm people as a naturally bigger, stronger more powerful man should have and this was a consistent theme with him.

Dempsey and Louis fought and dominated near equals and destroyed very good and sometimes bigger, stronger more powerful legitimate heavyweights consistently....did Jeffries ever fight at a disadvantage? no? then how can he rate against those that proved they could when he didn't....and worse he struggled with an old man he outweighed by nearly 50lbs.....not a fat outweigh but two raw boned men at their natural size.

So you are going to have us all believe that you came too a boxing discussion board not for boxing which you admit you know nothing about but to scrutinize terminology......what if someone on this board is a molecular geneticist or biologist? and because they understand that this board is simply the modern equivalent of a bunch ex/current fighters and fans drinking beer in a bar talking about fighters for the love of the sport.....rather pompous isn't it? thats OK one day you will grow up and learn that advances in knowledge is also evolution and that the definition science uses has multiple definitions the word has more than one use.....unless you patented it

I ate from the tree of good and evil "I feel more intelligent-er"

I admitted nothing of the sort. I volunteered that I know less than some others here, which is still pretty damn far from nothing. I'm using universally applicable tools of logic, and anyone willing to a google a term or two can easily follow what I'm saying. In fact I would think in most cases the googling isn't even necessary.

If it should happen that anyone here is a molecular geneticist, I for one would welcome his input. For that matter I'd be happy to hear from a construction worker or a bouncer or a drill instructor or a guidance councilor or a florist. It's frequently the case that knowledge and experience from one domain can provide insight on a subject that seems at first glance entirely unrelated.

There is an old saying that rings true from the youngest least educated to the most educated and that is if you cannot communicate simple enough for a child to understand then you are't communicating.....the vernacular on this board is spoken by a wide range of people who frequent here and all try to communicate clearly enough to be understood by most

No not me but seem like you are trying awfully hard to come off as smarter than the rest of us....if that's your schtick then so be it if not then we'll get used to it.

Well, there you go. Maybe I have a little more confidence in what a bunch of guys siting around drinking beer can handle than you do.
