Hearn confirms Wilder turned down $3 mil plus US TV

Hearn needs an undefeated Wilder for a mega payday though. Don't think there is really anyone else out there that they can hype as much as Wilder.

 

Haye,Parker and his drunk team,Fury's weather that's hughie or tyson,Whyte,Chisora,Ortiz espically after his steriod fun.But yeah Wilder is the strongest and funniest,but i think his demands will be like eddie talking to the eubanks.

 

Fury and Haye would both be bigger, but from an American standpoint, Wilder
is a door opener and showcase fight in the States for Joshua (the
fight would likely not be in the states but would be broadcast here).

Personally I say Hearn should let Wilder languish and they should simply wait for Jarrell Miller
to take a few more scalps. He's seems like much less of a headache to deal
with and appears to actually be hungry (no pun intended) and really wants
to go after the best guys. Miller is a far better potential American mantle holder than Wilder IMO

As it stands, holding on to the WBC belt is of the utmost importance for Deontay Wilder as it gives him a spot at the table for negotiating bigger fights. When you've got a title, you've got a target on your back. If he loses the belt, either via defeat or having to relinquish it, his stock goes way down. If he has to fight Stiverne now to keep it, he's going to do just that. I doubt the WBC would have granted a one-off exception to fight Whyte and table the Stiverne mandatory shot as they've been pushing that down the fans' throats for as long as I can remember.

What Wilder decides to do next will be the real decision point (assuming he beats Stiverne).

 

I thought Hearn made this offer before Stirverne was paid step aside money, for the Ortiz fight. So I don't see what difference it would of made, Ortiz/Whyte, Whytes ranked #5 with the WBC as well.

 

I've not seen confirmation from anyone other than Hearn saying it. Either way, if you reject a fight with someone to fight another guy who is much more dangerous than the first dude then I don't really consider it a duck at all, I consider it trying to respond to a heavily criticised resume.

It's kind of like how post Jacobs fight Golovkin was 'injured' so couldn't agree a fight with Saunders but was actually agreeing a fight with Canelo. I wouldn't consider that a duck of Saunders at all because Canelo would be considered by most to be the better fighter of the two

 

Tyson Fury for sure would be the mega mega fight. But the shape he's in that'll take 24 months to happen if he started working out yesterday.

Perhaps Haye if he could spark out Bellew in 2 or 3 and then get a win over someone like Whyte. A big ask for a smaller man at his age though.

 

Fighters turn down fights and money all the time, it don't suggest that they are afraid to fight. They do what they feel is best for their careers. To be honest, three mil ain't that much money in the bigger scheme of things. Mayweather, Mikey, Crawford, and others. Canelo gave up a belt and all those potential fights would have made them at least three mil or more. Wilder just doesn't care for the way Hearns does business and prefers not to deal with him unless it's the Joshua fight.
