Fres hits back : Ustinov-Charr Will Be Eliminator, Not For WBA Belt

    Team Oquendo: Ustinov-Charr Will Be Eliminator, Not For WBA Belt

    Co-promoter of Fres Oquendo, Bobby Hitz, together with Roy Jones, Jr.’s Square Ring Promotions, came out swinging this morning after reading reports that the Manuel Charr vs. Alexander Ustinov bout is being announced as being for the WBA Heavyweight Title.

    “We have received the personal assurance from Gilberto Mendoza, President of the WBA, that Charr vs. Ustinov will not be for the WBA championship, but rather will be an elimination bout for the right to fight Fres for the title,” Hitz said.

    So Fres will be fighting for the WBA belt when closer to 50. Great news. Thanks WBA! Hopefully we will finally see Oquendo - Briggs megafight in the future, with the winner to defend the title vs Danny Williams
