Certainly wouldn't call him a bum, but I certainly wouldn't jump the gun and call him "great" either.
There are quite a couple of levels between that you know? One win over a top fighter doesn't instantly make you great.
Fury after beating Wlad didn't become great either.

 

Probably none of the above and then it all depends how he beats him anyway, i mean if he got knocked down multiple times but hangs on and runs till the end of the round, was losing every round and about to be finished then pulls out a windmill from hell and knocks AJ out what am i meant to think then?

I dont call Wilder a bum i call him a chicken. And any heavyweight can knock any heavyweight out. But how i view Wilder should he beat AJ depends on how he does it.

 

It would legitimise Wilder. At the moment he's seen as a paper champion, clinging onto a belt via the easiest path. But a win over Joshua would change all that, he would be a unified champion and the man in the division.

Some might say AJ was over rated or still green but who at the time has a better resume who is active? The win over Wlad and a upcoming likely win over Pulev is enough to secure AJ as a top heavyweight of the time and clearly the consensus number 1 at the time for most. Not sure what else Wilder could do to legitimise his name in one fight.

But also as said before, one win doesn't make Wilder suddenly an ATG. A win over AJ while very impressive is but 1 step towards securing his legacy, whatever it may be.

 

I think its more of a case of when Wilder beats AJ tbh. I can't see AJ being able to stay away from that right hand early on. Wilder is great at lunging in with that jab before releasing that monster right hand and because he lunges in, the momentum behind that right hand is unstoppable, even for AJ. Wilder wins this fight.

 

I would still expect Joshua to defeat him if they fought more than once bc lightning dont strike twice,and its also much harder to rob the same bank again. If wilder out boxes Joshua then its another story,cant see that however and Wilder will be swinging for the fences when they meet knowing its his only chance to not get knocked out. i would still rate wilder top 3 if ( when he loses) a loss doesnt mean you go back to the line as most think, thats not just logical when top guys fight.

I think everyone is going to see clearly who the better fighter is when wilder fights Stiverne and Joshua gets the more difficult Pulev.

 

I'd be surprised but depending on how he performed in the win I'd give him a ton of credit barring any controversy

 

As what has been said before, it would make Wilder the number 1 in the division. Joshua is considered by the vast majority to be in this position atm. Wilder wouldn't have much chance of being him imo but if he did he would assume that role.

Having said that, one win does not make a fighter great. Wilder would still be considered a 'lucky' or vulnerable fighter even if he was to get the win.

 

Wilder's plan let AJ and Parker fight all the top heavies. Then Wilder will fight them when they're worn or show weakness.

 

Joshua doesn't even have 20 fights, has terrible stamina, and limited head movement. I would actually be shocked if Hearn let Joshua anywhere near Wilder until Joshua at least has Parker's WBO belt and maybe 25 fights under his belts. Right now Joshua gets knocked out by Wilder.

 

Can't disagree with anything in this post. Hearn can't live without his cashcow and he knows it. Be surprised if this fight happens before 2020. Very surprised.

 

Well that would be a pretty lame plan considering the longer Wilder doesn't fight Joshua ,the better Joshua gets. Thats exactly why Wilder called him out after Joshua's 17th win defeating Martin . Panic set in knowing he better get Joshua while he's green . He was rejected anyway bc Joshua went in the direction of the more dangerous Klitchko .

I can guarantee you wilder is NOT waiting for Joshua to get worn out bc he doesnt want Joshua any better than he already is and thats better than wilder already. Improvement comes with fights,after the Pulev fight im sure wilder will be in even more Panic mode to get the fight signed.

And actually he may have even called Joshua out before that after he fought Whyte. More empty call outs either way thats all wilder has done really ride of of joshuas popularity while acting like everyone ducks him..lol

Wilder is at his prime now,he could still improve but hes either that limited or he doesnt follow instructions from his trainers well? Maybe both? i cant imagine his trainers are satisfied from his last Stiverne fight to how hes been fighting . if so he needs other trainers.

Joshua has a good 5 more fights to really let loose. Wilder should be panicking and for good reason.
