The guy has fought everyone in his career. Cotto, Canelo, Lara, Charlo, and Hurd. Never ducked anyone and was always the B-side fighter and never given a fair shake. You can even argue that he should have gotten a win over Canelo or Charlo since they were really close. He's earned my respect. Don't know where he'll go from here but hopefully he ends his career in good health. True warrior.
Guy just fought another juiced up monster who was probably not even tested just like when he fought Canelo and Charlo. Yet he no doubt got tested constantly, of course he deserves respect too bad most do not care about a perpetual B side cog that gets used up and destroyed by this crooked sport. At least he made some decent pay days and has law suits pending although he won't get enough to cover his legal expenses.
I was just going to make a thread like this. First of all, hurd was out there looking gigantic. Trout isn't even that small himself 5'9 1/2 solid frame for a 154, hurd looking like a LHW. And trout was doing GOOD work, tagging him a lot but he was just way too small. He fought his ass off last night so hats off to him, guy took a lot of dangerous fights in his career.
He was given a more than fair shake(got to fight a washed up Cotto) he just hit his talent ceiling. He was never going to beat the likes of Hurd Canelo and Lara.
I think Austin Trout gets respect. Hes a cerified warrior. Ducks no one, comes to fight, and had he been more marketable would have gotten more hype.
I really admire Trout - I knew he could box, but I never realised he ahd so much heart and toughness. I don't think there's any need to start invoking unproven PED abuse by his opponents etc - Trout is admirable just for who he incontravertibly is - a man who's been matched tough and always given a good account of himself, but is just a little sub-elite.
trout is a true fighter. and yes we do need guys like him . line them up he will train hard n give best effort. he took a beating last night. an sadly he better take it easy for a while. if he does come back he needs to ease his way back in the game. back to back losses. but most importantly his health. because he took sum punishment. glad the fight ended when it did trout was exhausted and hurt.
Didn't enjoy watching Trout wearing down and eventually succumbing in a fight he was clearly outweighed in by so much, you have to assume somewhere in the neighborhood of ten to fifteen pounds. It was a depressing watch, as Trout's entire career has more or less been. He's never really been given that proverbial chance. He spent some of his best years as one of the best sparring partners in the world for the elite of the elite. He definitely didn't walk an easy path to get to this point.
