I'm not doubting the guy or hating... so no one take it there. Just wondering what puts him in the mix with the best at jr middleweight/middleweight? I know he had a successful olympic career but I seen his last fight against Culcay and he looked ok but nothing that wowed me. I guess I should not judge after only watching one fight. Is he a power puncher, defensive fighter? Whats his style? Thanks in advance guys. Just curious
Also who would you guys favor in a fight, Jermall Charlo (160)or Demetrius Andrade? I believed Andrade moved up to 160 now.
Damned if I know, I've never understood the hype. I mean.... his best wins are over Willie Nelson, Vanes Martirosyan and Brian Rose. What a resume! Oh yeah, and tiny little Jack Culcay, who he barely beat. He's just another by the numbers, wannabe slick defensively minded fighter with overrated power.
He fights this Saturday on HBO. Middleweight debut against some dude who's like 6'4 with an insane reach. I'll see how Andrade performs. If he wants his name anywhere near the Charlos, Lara, Canelo, Hurd, Ect, he needs a knockout in impressive fashion. A UD doesn't do much for his name against an ok fighter
With that insane reach and height advantage, there's not guarantee Boo Boo is getting past Fox, no one knows how good Fox really is, and this is the year of the upset. Andrade has wasted his prime and the good will he had about 4 years ago, he's become largely irrelevant and he needs to step up his comp or just retire, otherwise what's the point? He's wasting his and our time.
yea his management decisions ruined him but he's still young. He needs to fight 3 times a year though. Who would you favor him or Jermall Charlo the more evil twin at 160 lol
Well, this guy - this Alantez Fox (http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/540128) that Demetrius Andrade is taking on has fought nothing but Tomato Cans his entire career. Makes me wonder just what the hell Andrade is doing? I mean, he's 29 years-old, he's only got 24 fight and he's still facing Class C competition. Hey...don't think I'm gonna' be puttin' down any money to watch Andrade on PPV any time soon!
That's a tough call, I don't think Andrade has a great chin, and he leaves himself open when he throws a lot of his wild combinations, especially against Nelson, and Charlo could time him and drop or stop him, and I don't think Andrade has the power to hurt Charlo, although, Jermall isn't the more skilled of the two, so if Andrade could take his power, then I could see him possibly eking out a SD.
The Charlos are more skilled than people give them credit for. I love their camp that includes Errol Spence and Lara. Those brothers have some of the best timing and jabs I seen in the middleweight division
I think Andrade shows glimpses of his level, I have a problem with what I believe to be a durability issue. He's never been in with an elite guy that can really push the gas tank to E.
this guy he is fighting seems like he will present sum type of challenge with his size / reach advantage. but andrade is the favorite i assume for a reason. i think andrade is a good fighter hes just inactive hardly fights dude aint sharp its half these guys problem
I just wanna see him get tested for real. It seems like the same things happen. He fights a bum every year and a half, calls out the Charlos, and then rinse and repeat. He doesn’t even get decent names. He fights these no name fighters. I just wanna know if he’s as good as advertised
Every half decent fighter out of the 154 lbs division has been hyped like crazy the past few years. To me, it looks like a bunch of very solid fighters with the greater Charlo being the only real standout fighter among them. Hurd looks to be the era's Margarito. I'm not quite sure if any of them beat a prime Lara though. Not even convinced about them beating current Lara either.
