I remember about a year ago when Shannon Briggs was chasing David Haye around Britain, that Eddie Hearn and Briggs sat down for a lengthy discussion about signing with him and potential fights. Shannon looked really excited about what Hearn was saying. I wonder what went wrong. Drug testing, not wanting to take decent smaller fights first, wrong money? Here is the interview of Shannon meeting Eddie in his office. This content is protected
I would of liked to see him get one pay day at least. He should've signed him, and matched him with chisora, that would've sold. Perhaps he was talking too much money and Hearn's just couldn't accommodate him though. He could've ticked over nicely fighting UK fighters, winning and losing some along the way.
Hearn wanted him to build his profile in the UK, said he isn't really anybody to the main market who are casuals. He's just an old man with a big mouth, who was chasing big money but without having to fight anyone decent to show his true worthiness of a big fight. Hearn wasn't offering the mega $$$ that old man Briggs was hoping for simple as that.
Hearn just got very irritated with Briggs saying "let's go champ" every 5 seconds. I know I would ffs.
He would of been fighting on UK cards, he would of been expected to be licensed by the BBBoC. I may be wrong but I think that brings with it year round random drug testing. That man clearly likes his drugs. And briggs only seems to want to face the man with all the belts. He doesn't want to work his way up or build any profiles.
I heard Hearn say Briggs over priced himself. But then Briggs said he fought on Haye's undercard for free so interesting..?
