it don’t matter Ward dealt with him in the rematch, I couldn’t make sense of the other stuff you said mate.
How Wlad was undefeated in 10 years, has 3 belts, Haskin had an IBF belt which he didn’t win in the ring he was gifted it . You could say Wlad was a bit washed when AJ took him on but I don’t wanna discredit AJ win coz Wlad looked good however Furys was more impressive.
That's a fair statement, and I'm not disagreeing with you. If you read my full comment, I stated that I tend to agree that Sor Rungvisai is the Fighter of the Year. He Beat the #1 P4P guy, then he knocked him out. I said "it's hard to top that". If I had to pick anybody, it would be Sor Rungvisai. All I'm saying is I think honorable mention should be Mikey Garcia and Canelo, who both had good performances this year as well. I think there's a argument to be made that fighting Gennady Golovkin is tougher and more dangerous than fight Chocolatito. However, that's not to take anything away from Sor Rungvisai and what he accomplishment. I also pointed out that many people actually called his first fight with Chocolatito a robbery (I didn't think it was a robbery, but some people do) and that there were headbutts. Again, these are just things to consider. That said, Sor Rungvisai's still my Fighter of the Year, but I just think that Mikey Garcia and Canelo should be in the conversation for Fighter of the Year, as I was really impressed with what they accomplished as well.
With fighter of the year unlike p4p or predicting fights it should be pretty objective and about quality Ws. How close or impressive a win was should only have distant secondary consideration. Ward had the great win over Kovalev, but it was only one fight, and it should probably take two or more to garner fighter of the year honours. Joshua the same, and an aged Klitschko shouldn't even compare. Crawford, Garcia, and Loma had two very good, B- to B+ wins, but neither had a great win. Loma will have a case if he beats Rigo, but keep in mind he's the deserved solid fave. Rigo if he wins would make sense, but that shouldn't be a sure thing. Which leaves Sor Rungvisai. He destroyed p4p top 5 possible number 1 Chocolatito in the rematch, and in doing so proved any dispute about the first fight meaningless. That's two great wins, and simply no one else had that. Another way of objectively calling it: if you put your money on everyone with elite wins over the year, he's the guy who would've given you by far the biggest return. Sor Rungvisai is fighter of the year.
True. (And they can go **** themselves for that) But fact is that Sor gave their P4P king hell and then KOd him in the rematch.
But you questioned if Roman was "truly #1 P4P" there is no question, he was far and away #1 in the sport with every bit the resume to back it up
Yeah, I think if Rigo wins he's fighter of the year. I do after all have Loma p4p number 1, and only had Roman number 3 before the first SSR fight (and number 6 before the rematch). I was assertive that SSR is fighter of the year because I think Loma beats Rigo, but Rigo will be really hard for Loma to find and he'll give him a lot of problems, and I wouldn't be shocked if he pulls it off. I shouldn't annoint SSR foty till after Loma-Rigo!
I'm a huge Loma fan but wouldn't mind Rigo winning at all ... I can't help "root" for the underdog who is trying to pull off an ATG win. Unfortunately whoever loses will be written off as a hypejob, when both are awesome fighters regardless what happens.
