    Excuses.

Takam was given 8 weeks notice (Actually, in one interview Eddie Hearn said 12) that he would be a back up opponent for AJ should Pulev pull out.

So if he wasn't professional enough to get into shape, that's his own stupid fault.

Takam has at least 8 weeks against a known opponent.
Joshua had just 12 days having spent the previous 6 1/2 weeks preparing for a totally different style.

Also seen comments of "What if Takam hadn't been cut".....Well, he was, and he was cut twice, both by punches.
AJ (we think) broke his nose in round after clashing with Takam's head.

    TL:DR Version

-Takam had the option not to be under prepared
-Joshua had no choice but to be under prepared.
    - Takam was cut by AJ's punches.
    - Joshua broke his nose after an accidental clash.

Non 'prime shape' AJ shut out 'Potentially Non prime' Takam

Takam was in great shape for his age. Also, Eddie had him lined up as a "Contingency plan" he said in that interview so even Joshua knew he might be facing Takam if Pulev pulled out.

    Excuses for what?

No one is claiming Takam was winning and we'll never know if he would've.

    Excuses for the stoppage?

The poor stoppage and ref constantly interrupting the action in a suspicious manner(Which allowed AJ a much needed breather) is a fact.

    Utter nonsense.

Did you see when Takam first got the cut?

He stopped fighting and started a 5 second conversation with the ref who asked if he wanted to continue.

I think Takam thought it was the head that caught him not a punch.

Should've stopped the fight there then...he clearly wasn't in a state to continue as AJ's head was nowhere near him.

The stoppage was a bad stoppage for sure. Almost everyone is in agreement with that. He should have been allowed to continue.. he looked hurt but not so bad that it should have been stopped.

The haters on here are going to crucify AJ whether he wins or loses because thats the narrative they want. If he had blown out Takam in the second round.. it would have been because Takam was a bum. As it was we saw a good fight with plenty of drama, ultimately AJ was too much for Takam.. he was however flawed and no doubt will improve off the back of this.

Ultimately AJ won a near shut-out victory against a very very tough and game Takam. Takam would be a tough fight for anyone. I think his style gave AJ real problems.

These haters, are not true boxing fans.. they plant themselves into one camp or the other (aj fans, wilder fans are equally as biased and deluded) then paint their narratives to fit and spew this bull**** on forums.

Hes still not beating Joshua, Takam, hes no Mike Tyson now guys. But he wins more rounds then this fight for sure but gets stopped anyway again worse next time because Joshua will work on his inside game and go to the body more then before and use that body jab even more.

Doesnt matter what he thought, It was a punch. Takam's headbutt early in the fight was brutal though. Best shot he landed all night.

True. What the referee was doing -- most notably, repeatedly having Takam's cuts checked on by the physician and taking time out to make Joshua and Takam have the loose tape on their gloves fixed -- were extremely transparent attempts at giving Joshua little breathers.

Presumably if a rematch happens, Joshua will also do the smartest thing he could possibly do: come in at a weight of 235 to 240lbs. :sisi1
