    He is right now the best HW... I don't think any names right now can dethrone him... even though he is #1 he needs a couple real at the top to become a legend. He did beat tysons KO streak record.

    Wow. 10 posters think he's an ATG already. Based on what, nearly losing to Wlad at age 41 out of the ring 1.5 years? Let me guess this group must think Wlad is Ali and Joe Louis rolled into one with the ageless wonder of Hopkins. That, of course, would be the only way to justify AJ being an ATG right now.

    To me, Joshua looks like a better Frank Bruno. He's not the next Lennox Lewis or a prime Wlad. Even AJ himself said he would be glad to have had the career Wlad did.

    IMO, AJ will need to beat a live body under 35 that can punch. No more bad title defenses please, though to be fair Takam was a sub in.

    For all his gifts, Joshua seems to foul when under duress, doesn't do a great job of controlling the action vs. top 15-40 opposition and looks a bit gassed in the mid to later rounds. Fighting under his terms vs. the weak or mildly skilled his stamina or lack thereof or chin is not an issue for now.

    But Parker, Wilder, Povetkin, Ortiz, and better than the Whyte who rocked AJ. Of the top four, only Povetkin is very good, and he's already 38 years old.

    So for AJ's fans, he needs a clean sweep here of these four, and really none of the above would rate among Wlad's best four wins. Well, maybe Povetkin might depend on if AJ can win that one soon.

    Joshua barely got past a 41-year-old, rusty Wladimir Klitschko who was coming off a lay-off and a loss.

    That ought to tell anyone he's a long way off being "the next great heavyweight".

    The Bruno comparison is spot on.
    I think he's slightly better than Bruno because he has proved his can fight back from the brink of defeat and win fights.
    On the other hand, he doesn't use a ramrod jab like Bruno at least worked out that basic method.

    Joshua beats Wilder & Parker though I wouldn't be suprised if Parker is the first to take him the distance. Wilder's packing glass and Parker won a close fight vs Takam who barely won a round vs Joshua. Povetkin & Ortiz are high risk/low reward so Joshua's team will avoid those fights.

    Imo he's the best heavyweight out there atm. Definitely not great yet. That question will be answered by the end of his career, perhaps even earlier. Can't see him having a particularly long career though, despite the claims of wanting to dominate the division for a decade. We'll just have to see - to early to suggest that he's great.

    Joshua is today what he was when he beat Wlad. A relatively inexperienced HW with decent skills and below average speed. As I've always said, credit to him for getting up off the canvas and winning that fight.

    But he's being overhyped by Brits who don't understand that Wlad was shot to sh!t and who have no historical understanding of boxing or the HW division. It's not AJ's fault most of his fans are fuktards. He's a likable enough guy himself.

    Based on what? Beating Jason Gavern in his 32 th pro fight doesn't make him a compition for the elite.

    I would say 2-3 of the right fights that go the right way, and he could do it. But is he good enough? not 100% yet. If he unifies the division in impressive fashion and say beats one of the very good cruisers coming up - I will say yes. Technically that's 3 fights. Let's say he has impressive wins against Parker, Wilder, and the winner of the WBSS. That's a great resume and would cement him as this generation's great heavyweight. Can he pull it off? I'm not sure. If he improves a bit maybe.

    then again one of the younger heavies could come around and completely derail the train.
