Eddie Hearn offers to essentially take control of Tyson Fury's (potential) comeback

Hearn says:

"Tyson needs to get back on the horse, and show the British public he's still serious, show the British public that he is here and back in the game. But, that doesn't come on social media it comes from being in the gym and getting through the ropes. Hearn has a vested interest in seeing Fury back in the ring the payday for a Joshua/fury match would be huge. It's probably the biggest fight that could realistically be made.

I suspect he wants to ensure Fury does stay focused on coming back and does the work in the gym to do so, and that any fights he takes in to the lead up doesn't have any chance of ruining an eventual meeting.

I'm all for it if it leads to him seriously coming back to boxing and eventually an AJ vs Fury mega fight.

 

It's a good thing, there's no way things would have dragged on for so long if Hearn was promoting him.

 

Fine so long as Hearn doesn't try and rush it all along. Fury need 2-3 fights I think and depending on how he looks can then look at an AJ fight

 

Fury should of kicked Hennessey to the curb a long time ago, I cant see it though.

I am sure Fury will be back eventually but i would be surprised if he worked with Hearn to do it.

 

Hennessey is useless. Frank made Fury Klitschko's WBO mandatory and was acting as his defacto promoter. He had a deal with BN leading up to the fight and supposed return last month was meant to be on BT.
Fury in all likelihood will work with Frank if he comes back.

 

Now that sounds fishy! What influence can Hearn have on a doping investigation, and if he actually does, then it means UKAD is corrupt as hell!

Warren's site lists Hughie as his fighter. So, I'd expect he thinks that he has or should have a piece of Tyson also. Warren is frequently in the press defending Tyson.

 

He promotes Hughie but i think hes only ever been involved with Tysons TV

cant argue the Hennessy is useless point. but thats TV its not actually managing his career

 

Having said that, ive just read that Frank Warren has offered Shannon Briggs the Fury fight, so maybe i'm wrong

 

Look at the numbers Hearn is turning over. The money AJ is making and the platform he’s got. Tyson would be a fool not to. Legacy and financial gain would come from Hearn and Sky. What will Hennessy / Frank offer? YouTube streams.

I think it sounds like a good idea. Fury needs to stay focused. If you lay the plan out in front of him and say these are the steps to get to this match, he should be able to grasp that.

The only thing that bothers me is Hearn is so heavily invested in Joshua that Fury needs some assurances that when he returns his (Fury's) bouts will be billed as for "THE WORLD heavyweight championship." Because Fury is the rightful heavyweight champion.

If Hearn is going to treat him like a contender and Joshua is the champ, then he's not looking out for Fury's best interests.

I know Fury-Joshua is the biggest fight that can be made in the UK.

So Hearn needs to treat the situation as if he's trying to stage the BIGGEST fight that can be made in the UK and NOT approach it that he's JOSHUA's promoter and that he needs to look out for Joshua's best interests instead of the interests of the EVENT.

That means NO Tyson Fury comeback fights where he takes on some low level stooge. Fury is the champ. He needs to come back in a main event and defend against anyone that is considered a legit heavyweight contender. With no sanctioning body involved, he could fight any name he likes.

Even someone like David Haye (should Haye win the rematch with Bellew).

Don't put Fury on a Joshua undercard against a nobody and treat Fury like he's a contender making a comeback. That benefits Joshua, not Fury.

When Ali was out of the ring for three and a half years, he came back against the number-one contender Jerry Quarry. When Vitali was out for three years, he came back against the WBC champ Sam Peter.

I understand Fury needs the work. But you don't come back against a fall guy. You won't be properly motivated if you do. Fury never lost his title in the ring. Treat him like a returning champ.
