Do you really believe that 168 pounders hit harder then 160 pounders?

ytownwillie, no one is saying that pavlik can't bang, the boy obviously has A class power. but it is ****ing stupid to claim he's the hardest hitting 160 pounder of all time when the last generation contained bangers on the level of julian jackson, the g-man and the dark destroyer.

that's to take nothing away with kelly, he can **** you up.

When Pavlik scores some 1 punch ko's against top competition I'll come back and read this thread

The guy can bang, but his power hype is insane

Yes -- the power hype is stupid!! I'm one of the biggest Pavlik nuthuggers on this board. However, I do recognize the realities of a given fighters strengths and weaknesses. What does Kelly say after virtually every KO? "We sat there and we threw a lot of shots, and I think it was the accumulation of punches that got to him." He says that after damn near every fight; accumulation!!!

Maybe Arum was straight with them and told them Cal/Pav will happen to make other plans?

TFFP probably had it right saying hand speed come into play. It has been too long since I took physics, but speed is factored into power. If you get hit in the head with a one pound hammer, you would rather it be going half a mile an hour instead of 10 miles an hour.

What if pavlik went to Cardiff and took joe out in his own backyard? Wouldn't the rest of his career be somewhat anti-climatic? Or what if Joe were to beat Kelly in Ohio? Would people still qestion Joe's status as a great champion?

I say this fight HAS to happen. To be the best you have to fight the best. Neither of of these guys will back down. I'm sure they both want it. The "loser" will have more respect for taking the fight in the first place than if he walks away. This fight is a huge win for boxing. To likeable guys and you really don't want to see either lose their OH, but you know it has to be.:deal

Abraham and Pavlik definitely hit harder than some of the super-middleweights.
