I have always asked myself that,in what other broadcaster does the Head of a Department take on Commentary Roles.I know for a fact it is Barney Francis(Head of Sky Sports) who makes the key descions regarding PPV and Boxing Output,so what does Smith actually do instead of turning up at Press conferences.Froch has always seemed like he took the Sky Job for the Money,Bellew i have no words for,Nelson clueless as ever.I Can not just keep putting it at Mute.
I'm relived i'm the not only one who heard that, watching the replay seeing him saying 'use the jab,use the jab' Jesus Christ he was getting schooled with Haye's Jab for GodSake.Really hope Haye Flattens him.
It's more only these last few PPV shows and Fight Nights where it has got drastically poor,it seems ever since AJ's win against Klitschko it has been all Been all about AJ.From the botttom to the top.Sky really need to boost their coverage and get rid of Smith,Nelson,Bellew, Froch who are the main culprits.Macklin, Coldwell,All decent and try and get Malignaggi as much as you can.
Dodgy home commentators don't bother me, it's like worrying about what the cheerleaders or ring card girls get up to. Undeniably premature, unfair stoppages and la-la land scoring when a home fighter is involved do legitimate damage to the sport. **** poor matchmaking doesn't help either, which still happens but not half as much as it used to on Sky. It's going to be interesting to see how 'all in' Sky are when they finally let Wilder at AJ and the marketing has to be rebranded around his subsequent comeback to keep the gravy train afloat.
Ian Darke and Watt were great together, before Watt started to lose it. Mind you, I'd ****ing love Watt back instead of these clowns. I'd love to see Peter Fury commentating, there's a man that would call it as he sees it. I like Richie Woodhall too, he has a genuine love for the sport, and while he's not always correct in his scoring, I think he's honest in his scoring. We all know commentators are going to be a little bias to the promoters fighters, it's normal, we've always seen it to an extent. But sky have lost all control, all dignity, they're embarrassing the sport, disrespecting it. Wholesale changes needed immediately, they've got it all wrong.
It's rather ridiculous that Sky have arguably the weakest commentary line up given the resources they have- only Ronald McIntosh is worse than Smith currently in my opinion.
He's always trying to be the big man, I am hoping he gets destroyed because his ego is out of control.
Like when it was showing the promo for haye Vs Bellew rematch it showed aj in the crowd lol it had nothing to do with aj but they some how found away to involve aj lol aj was happy in the crowd because now he didn't have to fight haye all they do is name drop aj on every show
paul dempsey. everyone used to sh-t on the old sky team, especially jim watt. now everyone's singing calzaghe's tune This content is protected
I remember an interview with Paul Smith where he said he got bollocked by a Sky producer for merely clapping a fighter in the ring (as it shows bias), yet now we have Bellew shouting instructions during fights? I turn the commentary off in fights involving AJ or Matchroom fighters. It's unbearable.
Paul Dempsey usually presents the boxing on BT Sport. Does have a habit of talking way too much though and interrupting. BUT he asks the questions Sky don't want to. He likes to put fighters on the spot and cuts through the bull****.
I especially liked it when he took Haye to task, Haye was lying as usual about Wladimir and he was shut down, just left with that gormless smirk he has.
