I am absolutely confused now!!!!! If there is an accidental headbutt stopping the fight before the end of 4 rounds - we have no idea whether it will be declared a technical draw or no contest. Is there any source which explains in simple terms the rules when either is declared? Just appears that cants are making this up as they go along.
Wba rules ~technical draw. However pp have their own get out of jail rule that says no payout before 4 rounds. WH always pay out on technical draws. I have just left pp and won't use them again
It has been declared a no contest and not a technical draw. No idea why under WBA rules which state technical draw if 4 rounds not completed.
Solis can forget about any chance of righting the wrong that was done to him now. They'll never fight a third time, surely?
I can vouch for that, at least in Jamie's case. Ran into the guy outside House of Fraser in Meadowhall back in the summer, socked him on the shoulder with a "hey, champ" and he spun around with a big grin on his face and shook my hand. He was was with his young daughter, but still had time for a friendly chat. Very nice fellow. As far as their boxing goes, I appreciate them. They've gotten the best out of themselves through hard work and Jamie's shown himself a willing traveller (the pair of Kameda wins may stand as his most creditable bit of work when all's said and done). It would be nice if he could secure some kind of big fight/payday with a marketable domestic rival before he hangs them up.
In some cases the organisation's rules take effect, and declare it either a NC or Tech Draw depending on the org. In some other cases the national or local commisions take point and then all bets are off it seems. We recently saw a headbutt winning it for one of the guys by TKO at some British titlefight I believe.
Jamie is a quality fighter. Unbelievable that total bums like Amir Khan, Dereck Chisora and Audley Harrison have been big names over recent years. And a world class proven fighter like Mcdonnell flies under the radar.
He probably is under appreciated alright. But he lost my sympathy when he robbed Solis. At least the "total bums" you mention haven't robbed opponents! The first solis fight was a good scrap. The solis rematch was shaping up to be a great fight too and the ending was totally unsatisfactory.. I for one would love to see solis v McDonnell III.
