i do see a lot of similarities between their styles. yes big baby is much more fluid and doesnt wrestle like ruiz, but he seems to grind down his opponets in an effective, but not so pretty to watch manner. As big as miller is, i think ruiz carried more pop in his (limited amount of) punches. Agree? Disagree? how do you think miller would have fared against ruiz's opponets circa 2001-2010?

That was some next level brutality.
Surprised Ruiz came back after that, altho he changed his entire approach to boxing.

Bt Ruiz is nothing like Tua and neither is Miller....so what are you really saying....That ruiz will send miller to sleep? or vice versa?

i personally think ruiz spoils miller. the guy always seemed to find a way to win big fights and is a little underrated

For a guy that weighs as much as the chunky Miller, he doesn't generate enough power in his punches. He's a tugboat plodder that is dreadful to watch. You are doing Ruiz a disservice by comparing him to porky.

Miller can actually fight. He doesn't need the ref, judges and Don King to win him fights.

I don't really see the comparison to be honest, they are quite different fighters. Ruiz was a boxer/spoiler while Miller is more a swarmer/pressure fighter. Ruiz isn't looking to exchange but to get off first then clinch and spoil while Miller wants to constantly engage to grind down his opponents.

If I was to compare Miller to anyone, it would probably be Chisora. Though he has greater variety than Chisora, plus a better engine, despite all that bulk, though his head and upper body movement is far worse, so he better have a chin even better than Chisora's otherwise the first big puncher he faces will flatten him.

Miller is literally nothing like John Ruiz, Ruiz (in his second incarnation)
jabbed his way in, landed a short right then clinched. or he'd stay way back.
He wasn't a pressure fighter at all, he just hit and evaded the incoming. Ruiz

Miller comes in with pressure, throws shots up and down, varies his power (which
is why some people are saying he doesn't have pop,) uses it when he sees an
opening to unload, and inside uses a fair amount of upper body movement. Miller
also doesn't really worry about getting hit back.

    The two are nothing alike.

Exactly. Ruiz was a fraud and cheater. He NEVER "won" a fight against decent competition without violating the rules against excessive holding, faking "low blows" or getting friendly scoring from King's judges - sometimes all three!!

Miller, whatever his limitations, at least fights within the rules of boxing.

    Miller is Ray Mercer.

And with 18 kayos from 20 wins, he's got more power than people think.

    He ain't no Quiet Man.

The OP asked how Miller would have done against Ruizs opponents... I said he would be smashed by Tua. Ok.

Ruiz beat alot of the so called top guys at heavyweight at the time.

    Oquendo
    Johnson
    Holyfield
    Golota
    McCline
    Rahman

    Losses to

    Roided Toney
    No doubt a roided RJJ
    Valuev
    Chagaev
    Haye

Ruiz whilst horrible to watch has a solid and underrated resume.
