Can't say I'm too interested in womens boxing but I was at the fight last weekend and it was the most entertaining fight on the undercard. She also got a better reaction than most which I was surprised about.
OMG, women? Playing SPORT???!!! Quick, call the church, we must alert the elders! (Or Mosque if you prefer)
What next? Trans gens and gender fluid boxing headlining with kelly maloney organising and overseeing the event? I hope all this farcical nonsense takes place on some obscure underground channel (maybe have it streamed on liveleaks for those with a morbid curiosity) at midnight or the early hours of dawn when no one is awake to see to it.
It's not normal for grown men to enjoy watching women fight. It's completely unnatural and goes against our instincts. It's like seeing two blokes snogging. If that's what they want to do then that's up to them but excuse me if it makes me want to vomit and I need to look away.
Hear,Hear. But we are going to have to put up with it for at least the next couple of months if Katie Taylor is around.Sooner she retires or loses we will see it fade.
Boxing has seen Ronda Rousey and WMMA and wants to try and cash in. But the real reason why the UFC pushes WMMA so much is because these girls will fight for peanuts and they can fill up cards on the cheap. They then market it to feminists, brainwashed liberal millennials, SJW's and virgin losers who will call you a bigot, sexist, misogynist etc if you object. So there are just enough idiots lapping it up to allow them to get away it and publicly shaming people for wrong think is also a powerful tool in todays world. Sad to see the fight game go down this route but the cancer of political correctness, cultural Marxism and 'equality' has now spread everywhere. A society that has its women fighting as a form of entertainment is a society in moral decay.
Those Last two lines, put that on Twitter and you will get absolutely get rinsed and ganged up on by Femnists. This is why i like Warren he didnt try this ****,even he knew but Hearn keeps persisting.Someone like Buatsi,Kelly,Cordina could have taken that slot in the Joshua/Takam Undercard.i would rather them get the limelight than Katie Taylor who should be given a seperate show.Womens Boxing taking up time and money on undercards and gyms could be blocking a potential Olympian/Pro.Is it really worth it?
the female mma in the ufc has been silly. they hyped up rousey and jj as p4p (or gender2gender lol) top fighters but then they get destroyed like amateurs. we'll see with jj if it was just a bad night but the way she crumbled from some amateur looking boxing from that little boy was pathetic.
Watching women fight is unpalatable for most decent people but even then, they aren't necessarily against women boxing. They are against it being out on shows along side proper boxing, as if male and female sports are equal. How would you feel if you pay your Sky subscription, sit down to watch the football on a Sunday afternoon only to see a bunch of split arses attempting to play the game? Or do you people crying about sexism and misogyny also follow your clubs women's team the same as you do the men's? This is professional prize fighting and I don't want to see women on shows for the same reason I don't want to see amateurs, kids, white collar fighters or the disabled. It's an issue of quality and value for money. Just look at the utter dross the UFC serves up. I've honestly seen more entertaining and more skillful street fights than 99% of WMMA.
I just think personally, that if a young girl/woman is inspired to take up boxing, then she should have the same opportunities to engage in that and a ladder she can climb if she wishes to progress. There shouldn’t be a glass ceiling to what a woman can achieve just because it upsets a few misogynistic men.
But there is a glass ceiling to what women can achieve in sport because they are limited by their biology. When it comes to any kind of athletic endeavour women are VASTLY inferior to men. Look at any sport on the planet and the very best elite women, when compared to males, are not even school boy level. In athletics there are 13 and 14 year old boys who can smash long standing women's world records. This "everyone is equal at everything in every way" nonsense has to stop and it certainly has no place in sport. It's like when Serena Williams said she didn't want to be referred to as a great female tennis player but simply a great tennis player as there should be no distinction. If that statement or any of the rest of this kind of rubbish had any basis in reality then sports wouldn't be gender segregated in the first place.
I’m not talking about equality in terms of biology, i’m talking about equality in terms of being provided a platform in which to demonstrate their boxing skills and earn some wedge for it. You’re right, elite sportsmen are bigger, stronger & faster than their female counterparts...that’s why they don’t compete directly. In boxing, they don’t even put two men in the same ring unless they’re the same weight. That doesn’t happen in football, rugby, tennis, cricket etc. Should the 147’s knock boxing on the head because they’re never going to biologically be able to compete in a fight with a cruiserweight are they? I’m just talking equality in terms of exposure and opportunities mate. People are desensitising to the sight of two women knocking s***e out of each other already. The world’s moving on.
+1 to Twentyman. I'm personally not a massive fan of women's boxing, just because of the lack of depth and unfamiliarity with the players. But, I have no ideological dislike - to my mind, segregating by sex is analogous to segregating by weight. If there were lots of exciting UK men's strawweights receving media coverage, I would follow the men's strawweight division, and the same for women's boxing. I am possibly open to the propsepct of decent women's boxing as my main pass-time is rock climbing. Top women's climbing standards are only slightly below the mens (although, there is far less strength in depth, probably due to participation levels): lighter frames can near compensate for less muscle. It's hard to cling to notions of clear male superiority when you see the ladies casually doing one-arm chin-ups!
Didn't Warren sign Nicola Adams? I'm not really sure about the logic of your final sentence- you think an actual olympian/ pro is somehow less worthy than someone who one day could possibly be (but statistically almost certainly won't be) an olympian/ pro? If you're going to go down the road of only the biggest/ strongest... that would mean doing away with kids' sports, any class under heavyweight in all weight-controlled sports, the paralympics, etc. If you don't want to watch those things fair enough, no-one's going to make you. But don't make out that anyone who does is somehow weird. I just like watching competitive sports between athletes who have trained hard to get where they are. That's the beauty of a free society. Watch or don't watch. Participate or don't participate. The choice is yours. Taylor has been around the sport for long enough to have heard this kinda stuff a million times over but despite all that, still she has achieved more than most athletes. We'll find out soon enough how it goes. People will vote with their wallets, and if it's unsuccessful for Taylor I'm sure she has the strength of character to cope and either come back stronger or take a different road entirely. Either way, the world will still turn. Relax.
