Spent too much time on the ropes where Garcia was able to tee off at will, although Frampton on most occasions then boxed his way out. Indicates that his stamina is poor and he has to take rests during rounds. He was lucky it was a 10-rounder. I had him winning by 1-2 points. He was KD but it was clearly due to a slip although correctly called IMO because a punch landed when it happened. His pot shotting from range was sublime and he consistently landed huge single hand rights and crisp jabs from range but they had zero effect on Garcia. One of the poorer performances I've seen from Carl and I've long backed Selby to beat him. Last night reinforces that belief.
I hope Carl is forcing himself into a third fight with Santa Cruz. It must be difficult to get up for a fight like last nights opponent once you done the big stage in the states twice
What was the fight for last night? It wasn’t an eliminator and Garcia has had some nabf and wbc things in the past. What is frampton aiming for?
Interesting that Shane mcguigan got a lot of crap after the split. Frampton came in over the weight for This fight, and stamina was really poor and he didn't look great. He made a big deal of how Shane over trained him, changes trainer, does less training and now his stamina looked crap...
Engine didn't look great last night and the opponent was fairly crude but had success. Can't see him beating any of the titlists at 126 and he's too small for 130. Still a quality fighter and as others have said maybe he just needs a big fight to be fully motivated.
Frampton didn't come in over the weight for this fight. Both men came in a pound UNDER the contracted weight.
I think his stuck in an awkward position. Struggling to make weight but his too small for Super Featherweight
You sure? Sure Bungey was saying he came in over by a pound "on purpose" caus he didn't need to make weight etc for a tune up? Could be wrong
That's a nice excuse. I don't think it looks good when the previous fight he missed weight. I have no doubt he can make 126 but its a struggle. If it's a struggle he really should be moving up but 130 would be a very difficult division for Frampton to have success.
Tough opponent. Big, tough Mexican pressure fighter who'd never been stopped, the type of guy who would give most fighters problems. Frampton looked elite in spurts, he's got exceptional talent. He began to tire and the fight got tough, which is why this guy was the wrong opponent, especially for a comeback fight. But Carl never looked good 6-12, although he alwaya finds enough to win late rounds and he won r8 and 10. Defo won the fight. Against a less tough opponent, we would have been saying it was the best Frampton in years. 6/10, will look better next time out I think.
Frampton not great but good come back well in the last round. Definitely won the fight with some good skills but was sloppy. Was ring rusty no doubt.
Im not buying the ring rust excuse. 10 months isnt too long. I will accept that hes been through a lot this yr and settlin in with a new team can take time. Carl looked good early on but he started blowing too early, this is a concern i think. hes never had the best engine but he was bad last night. Lets be right here the opponent was tough but he was really a sbw with real flat feet. The carl frampton that beat avalos would of put that guy away after 4rds. You could tell by carls physique that mooresys conditioning or the conditioner on the team, (im assuming mooresy did the conditioning) wasnt on shanes level. Maybe this was the reason he was blowing earlier than usual. He was looking for breathers on the ropes on fought too much on the inside, looking for more breathers. Carl did what he had to do and got the win. He looked good early on and the odd rd here and there, whilst also looking good in spurts There was also times he didnt look his old self. He has to get back to his old self if he intends picking up belts again. carl imo is an elite fighter. Hes been one of my fav fighter for a long time. Last night, that wasnt the carl frampton i used to rave to my mates about
