Khan has often been said to have a glass jaw, but does he really, or is it just below-average? He took punches from Maidana and never went down, and Canelo and Prescott are hard punchers.
for a standard boxer he has an average chin / for an elite boxer who boxes in world class he has a weak chin / his skills allow him to mask it but it is and has always been there.
He's been dropped by non punchers like Willie Limond. Prescott brutally KO'ed him and while Prescott looked like a puncher before beating up nobodies in Columbia, he only stopped 1 of his next 7 opponents or 3 of his next 14, so he clearly wasn't much of a puncher either. Getting KO'ed by punchers might not mean you have a glass chin but getting hurt, dropped and stopped by non punchers screams pure glass.
If Wilder and Joshua are accused of having glass jaws, then Khan has another level lower than that. Potato chip level jaw.
Saul Alvarez Danny Garcia Breidis Prescott Willie Limond (15 second knockdown should have been a KO loss) Julio Diaz Michael Gomez Rashid Drilzane ( 0% KO ratio) Craig Watson
Prescott was a taxi driver from Colombia with a padded typical South American record, he was never a puncher.. hes had about 20 fights since and only stopped like one guy lol. Alvarez is a decent puncher but hes not a 'big puncher' unless hes facing extremely glassed jawed boxers like Khan and Kirkland. What happened to his power when he faced guys with a chin like the domestic level Matthew Hatton and Chavez Jr,etc. Maidana had Khan all over the place, dancing and running, most refs would have stopped that fight.
Isn't great. He also stays in the pocket too long as doesn't have the IQ to stick and move for the entire fight and make use of his range and jab. Moves back in straight lines and is easy to time. Also has been KOd badly a few times which makes it more likely to happen in the future.
He has some resistance from punches. He's been put down multiple times has and gotten up. He took Garcia's shots and finished on his feet. But he was paralyzed and then laid in a casket by Prescott and Canelo.
Good post, but I have to disagree with the "skills" part. Khan isn't exactly skilled by any means. He's a very basic and predictable(which is why most of his opponents inevitably time and catch him as soon as he slowly starts to tire). The only thing that makes him appear unusual and "skilled" is his speed. As soon as he tires, he's right there and fully ready to be timed. Garcia literally timed and caught him clean with his eyes closed. You can also clearly see Garcia attempting to catch him with that punch(a punch they clearly trained for) from the opening round.
He has a lot of good moves and a lot of bad habits, he`s a mixed bag skill wise but has a great trainer and is more skillfull than he was.
