Eubank Snr, Time to give a little bit of credit?

Agree. Think the only real wrong move the dads made so far was sticking him in with bjs a touch too early. Needed one or two fights to bridge the gap between what he,d been fighting and bjs.

Apart from that tho hes set up to be a bit of a star if he can pull off a win against groves. Although no fan liked it getting eubank involved in ITV ppv could be a masterstroke from eubank. Looked like he didn't,t have many options left at the time as well. Not easy to become relevant nowadays without the big promotional backer. The old man deserves a lot of credit for it...cause they we,re up against it.

Starting to look like they ve played the promotional companies well for their own advantage. Ready to set themselves up to make the big money....and keeping the majority of that big money.

Even the training regime..hes got spot on...is their a harder worker in britain than Chris eubank junior. He,s got to be up there with the best of them. He's helped keep the son focused through the years. Got him in a great position to win the tournament. Set him up on ITV ppv ready to become a star. All the while he,ll be picking up the lion share of the purses. No big name trainer or manager to pay. No matchroom taking off a third or whatever. All the while not really taking damage. He,s done a remarkable job when you look at it like that.

Could come crashing down against groves but there' no other way of getting to where they want to be without the risk.

 

I watched the presser there. Always enjoy watching the Eubanks. Reckon he managed to wind Groves up a wee bit. Can’t wait for February!

 

When you think about it, there's so much riding on this fight for Jr, not only a proper world title, but the making or breaking of his 'brand'.

Sr. does spout a lot of nonsense, but he's been spot on with what he's said about promotors and how they treat fighters having experienced it first-hand. So the route he's taken his son down is starting to look more and more like a brilliant choice.

 

Yeah, I just finished watching it myself... I have been a late to the whole Eubank hype machine but considering Groves is the champion the man with much more experience and better resume, bigger and certainly stronger... Groves played right into his hands and the press conference seemed all about Eubank and how he was going to win.

Maybe wont mean anything come fight night but i thought it was interesting how everything seemed focussed on Eubank...

I did like the 'Havent you lost Chris' mid Eubanks discussing how he didnt know how to lose

 

Most credit should go to jnr who clearly trains extremely hard. He's earned this match with Groves and it could be cracker.

Sorry snr but I'm not giving credit to someone who wears a monocle and ridiculous shoes.

 

Said this for a few years...

When all the mainstream promoters are saying you're difficult to work with you know you're doing something right. Sr. Knows the business inside out and knew exactly what Jr. Was worth every step of the way. If it wasn't on offer the deal wasn't made. When they said he was 'being difficult' what they really meant was 'holding out for the right value'

 

Hope they don't get greedy on the ppv price, could do huge numbers if they price this right.

Credit due I think yes. I think discipline is a major factor in what Snr brings to the table. Hes whipped that boy in to fantastic condition. I also believe Jnr's hungry, but his Dads held him back and sometimes made a ***** of him(GGG). I can see him wary of Groves power, but turning it up mid rounds and stopping him around 10. GG is shop worn imo

 

I thought the presser was very interesting...Senior and his lad were seemingly mocking George Groves for saying that he relied on his team, and proudly told everyone that Junior pretty much trains himself and listens to nobody.
Eubank Senior has seemingly done a grand job of making Junior too self reliant imo.

I thought Groves was very composed and aggravated Junior a few times, especially when he references the relationship with his Dad. Junior proper jumped at that.

Eubank has impressed me recently with his composure, his manner and how well he articulates himself...but I thought he came out with a couple of silly things today.

 

I think it was the other way round. Eubank Jr lacked his usual composure. Groves was cool calm and professional. He reminded jr that he has lost at a lower level! Groves pointed out there are levels and Eubank has not fought at this level etc. Eubank Jr is about to get a serious reality check as to his true standing. Groves correctly pointed out what Jr does well and badly. Give Eubank a stationary target then he reels of punches but top fighters are not stationary. Ask yourself when last Eubank fought a skilled technical boxer puncher? He says he trains himself which Groves pointed out is evident. Jr seems animated. I prefer guys to remain themselves.
