Stevenson avoiding his mandatory title defense... again

    Alvarez has been the mandatory challenger for two years. They have the same promoter (GYM) and agent (Haymon). But somehow it can't be done.

    The truth is Stevenson has the perfect setup to avoid fighting a mandatory ever again.

    They keep telling Alvarez there is no money to be made in a Stevenson-Alvarez fight.

    They offer him more step aside money than he would make fighting Stevenson.

    He keeps taking it and the wheel keeps turning.

    The WBC should strip Stevenson and remove Alvarez from their ranking. I realize this will never happened but I believe this isn't fair for the other challengers who wants a shot at the champion but can't do anything because the champion and the mandatory challenger are pretty much set until one of them retires.

    Stevenson is going to fight Badou Jack. I hope with all my heart Jack wins and puts an end to this madness.

    I wonder how long Stevenson has left before he retires?

    Well said... Agreed on all counts. Whole situation is a shitshow and the WBC deserve all of the ridicule in world for allowing it to happen.

    He can take the 150K if he wants. But he should lose his mandatory challenger status and let someone else get a shot at Stevenson.

    They are literally holding the title hostage.
