How would Tony "2 ton" Galento do in today's HW div?

He was a very tough fighter, he would knock Wilder out for sure, he could not be underestimated, did not look like he could fight, but he sure could. He could have won one of the titles today, there are so many out there now.

 

Did he really weigh 2 tonnes

 

he fought in an era of what would now be cruiserweights where his 235lb weight was an advantage
he had a 50% ko record
he was 5.9
he had little skill and was basically a tough bar room brawler

todays 3 champs are 6.4 /6.6/6.7
different era of heavys

how would a 1930s nose tackle do in the NFL TODAY

 

With his size and lack of speed he'd be like an old David Tua with less power. A high level journeyman/gatekeeper type nowadays.

 

wilder would ko him /as would joshua with ease and brutally.

galento used to keep his hands at his waist /tried to bumrush and throw a slow left hook and use his weight when he got up close to push/maul/foul his opposition.

big baby miller absolutly dwarfs galento at 6.4 and 300lbs and IMO he is not good enough to win a title and would walk right over and through galento

 

Tbh Galento vs modern heavies would like like Dubois vs Marcus Kelly. Perhaps he could be a bit more competitive, but not much.

 

The "greats" of the Bum of the Month Club couldn't make it as sparring partners for the bottom 100 of the cruiserweight division

Galento would be a human punching bag.

 

These kids can't box. Joshua's posture would get him KO'd by Tony. Parker's complete lack of speed gets him KO'd by Tony, and Wilder's complete disregard for defense gets him KO'd by Tony.

 

Two Ton moidaz all the bums. All of them.

 

yeah, galento was tough........but 5´9 fighting and fighting in the 1940´s, come on. be real. sure, you will find some grumpy old men (wannabe boxing historians) that will insist that boxing hit it s Peak around 1930 and it has been all down hill from there. whatever.

Tough journeyman... Capable of exposing flawed prospects, the occasional fringe contender etc. Comparing the progression of team sports like football and soccer to combat sports is laughable. Sure there have been advancements in technique and training methods, but when there are still extremely primitive hard nosed brawlers doing well it's silly to say that one's from the past would be so hopeless today.
