Would you consider Deontay Wilder a modern day Michael Grant?

What you got against Michael Grant?

 

deontay has more power and better abilty also a better chin than grant but how much better we dont know because after 39 fights deontay has not been put in with someone who can punch back with power.

arreola once upon a time but not by the time he fought wilder and stiverne whos power is rat by stopping arreola / but stiverne was outboxed in deontays best performance and arreola no longer h ad any power at all hence he went the distance with clubfighters

 

Deontay and Grant have some serious basic flaws that were not corrected over the years. Both dropped their right hands too much. Grant is sort of an unusual case for me. Golota made him look bad in a fight Grant eventually won and Lewis made him look good in a fight Grant lost, which some people would consider weird since Lewis KOed Grant but Grant did land a good right hand on Lewis that made Lewis panic and cheat by holding and hitting Grant. Nutless referee never said squat about the foul either. Wilder has more power and is faster than Grant thus allowing him more success but his lack of technique will eventually catch up to him if he ever faces the top opponents.

 

Until wilder steps in with somebody good I consider grant to be better. I'm sure he will prove to be better but how can we be sure till we see him in with anybody good.

 

I think what he is referring to is that grant was a specimen, like wilder is, but got shot down in flames
the comparison could end up being a very good one, I think. time will tell.

i can see the obvious comparison: both are great athletes turned Boxers.

both their sucess is based on physicallity, not skill.

grant was more well rounded, the more skillfull and technical of the two. wilder is the harder Puncher.

on paper, wilder was more sucessfull, Holding a belt and all that. but face it, grant would have been a favorite over every single one of the second raters wilder has fought so far.

Hard to compare, one fighter had no problems stepping up while one fighter likes to cherry pick.

This. Wilder has better hand speed, better mobility, stamina, a chin, power, and killer instinct that Grant clearly lacked. Wilder easily beats everyone on Grant's resume except for Lewis, but if Wilder connects on Lewis, who had no chin he'd knock Lewis cold.

Grant let Lewis and Mcline bully and manhandle him, which Wilder would never let happen. Grant's conditioning also wasn't consistent while Wilder is always in great shape.

 

Wilder kills Grant, since Grant can't take a punch.
