there are N eye conditions...and there are levels to each condition...prolly 90% of population over 18 have some kind of eye condition...
most common conditions are myopia and longsightedness. if the levels of these two are small or medium, it should not impact the sport/athletic performance.(unless you are into archery ).

Those glasses are real. I have read an interview where he says that he started wear glasses half a year ago. He also noted that he can still see perfectly in the ring.

 

He probably delayed laser eye surgery so not to get a good look at rigo's face.
Interesting though I didn't know that

 

might need a pair of glasses to see clearly at a distance but up close all my mates who wear glasses take them off to read.
im the opposite cant read **** 1 foot from my face have to hold it 3 feet away.
detached retinas were the big thing / can they cure these now ? not heard any boxer retiring because of them

Not everyone can qualify for laser eye surgery.

You have to have the 'right' shape eye to qualify and if you dont you cant get it, well that was ten years ago, unless thats changed?

 

i looked into having laser eye treatment / they said they can improve everyone now .
i was nervous about it though and did not have it.

So in the last few years/decades rules around soft contact lenses have been amended; they are generally allowed now. However, if they do come out during the fight depending on the rules the fighter may be DQ'ed or have to fight without them (e.g. Raushee Warren at the Olympics).

Many fighters just fight with poorer eyesight, or get laser surgery to correct their vision (e.g. the Charlo brothers). And yes it is a significant disadvantage not to see properly, however it can be hard to get a license if you are more shortsighted than -1.00.

 

I have terrible vision and wear glasses....It never hindered my ability to inside the ring since your opponents are directly in front of you and they are large objects.
