Higher Ranked HW: Danny Williams or Audley Harrison

Williams had a lot of natural talent but mentally was a bit ****ed and a lazy trainer coming in stones too heavy.

Harrison was just a scared old man riddled with injuries who had mastered the computerized amateur points scoring system at 28.

 

I much preferred Danny Williams, but any discussion like this should recognise that Audley handed Danny his ass in 3 rounds. Yes, it can be said that Danny didn't prepare properly and that it was probably the best 3 rounds of Audley's career, but nobody should ignore that it happened.

Audley TKO Danny in 3, and that's a fact.

 

Williams on his day was awesome but didn’t know when to stop. Much better than Audley without a doubt.

 

Two absolute bums of the highest order, it's like picking between two people to have a go on your wife, as a wise man once said.

Audley definitely ranks higher though, if I have to choose

 

You are correct in that Harrison has a stoppage win over Williams but to be fair Williams at that time had had over 40 fights, a tougher career in bigger fights with tough opposition and was coming off a loss.
I really see that as a fighter going down against a fighter looking to move on and up.
Williams did also take the 0 of Harrison
I go for Williams as I think overall he has had the better wins and more of them

 

Danny Williams should have retired after the Chisora loss in 2010, but he did have a better overall career and gave a much better account of himself in his big fights. Beat an old Mike Tyson, fought valiantly against Klitscko getting rocked and put down multiple times, beat Mark Potter with one arm, won and defended the British and commonwealth titles on multiple occasions.

Audley had money thrown at him and never performed in big fights. Last round lucky punch to KO sprott, didn't throw a punch against Haye, blasted by Price and Wilder in 1 round. Ironically enough his best win was over Williams. Does that make a better fighter...? Not sure. But he didn't have a better career.

 

Danny Williams. In my opinion Danny is in the top 20 best British Heavyweights of all time. He never ducked anyone, always out on a fight. Was just a shame that he didnt retire when Chisora beat him...makes me so upset to see him fighting to this day, Danny is a lovely bloke, a TRUE warrior

 

I liked Danny as a person and was a decent boxer. His loss to Vitali Klitschko was the most brutal destruction I've ever seen, Vitali was an animal it was a hard watch.
