What d ya all say? Please dont move this, its a serious question for the classic boxing fans since many of the people in the longue dont care much about boxing? I say the orignal rocky. I dont see what was so good about Million dollar baby, i hated it. oops, forgot about raging bull. Great movie for sure.
Well Raging Bull is just a great film on the level of all-time great movies from any genre, so in that respect it may get number 1? But for me personally, Rocky 2, key moments for me are when Rocky is running with everyone chasing him, and when Adrian wakes up and Micky shouts 'what are we waiting for?'!!!! Hahahaha, the greatest!!!! I really like that film- Gladiator though , with Cuba Gooding Jr.
Raging Bull by far. EDIT: I'm not sure what people thought of Ali but I liked that aswell. It was a bit long though lol.
Forgot about that one, but it was great. A film that couldn't really be termed a 'boxing' movie, but was written by Budd Schulberg and is in my opinion one of the greatest movies ever made, was, "On the Waterfront" starring Marlon Brando as Terry Malloy, the washed-up fighter who'd been sold out by his own brother Charlie, played by Rod Steiger, who told him in that great scene in the back seat of a taxi, "You coulda been another Billy Conn." One that might deserve honorable mention: "Champion", starring Kirk Douglass.
While were at it, how about the worst boxing movie ever, played by the worst actor ever? Billy Conn as himself in, "The Pittsburgh Kid"
Classic film, classic theme: standing up against the powers of evil when it could cost you everything, your livelihood, your life. Another good one I just thought of: "Body and Soul", a boxing film starring one of our own: John Garfield.
