I think SFR might still have a walkout bout left (Abderrazak Houya vs. Bibi Ondoua, 10 rounds @ light welterweight) after they're done interviewing Mendy - seated on tall bar-stools in the middle of the ring :dunno - but I'm out, got X-mas presents to wrap.

They're replaying Anissa Meksen vs. Fatima El Kabouss for the vacant French women's super bantamweight title, if anyone cares (I sure as hell don't)

Weird that Mendy has two losses to very good, known world-class (or at least upper-crust Euro) level commodities, but then also has two losses and one draw with this random barely-.500 journeyman dude. 0-2-1 versus Abdoulaye Soukouna, now long since retired, and never avenged himself despite having opportunities. Bizarre.

Hey IB, what do you think of the Golden Boy card coming up later tonight? Anything interesting or potentially good brewing?

Nope. It had me hooked when DDLH was headlining but now that he missed weight and the main event got scrapped there's nothing left for me.

Why has Postol been pissing his time away anyway? Was he injured?

No idea. Has fought just once since Crawford seventeen months ago, headlining at home in Kiev in September and getting dropped by a 14-0 unknown, though he did hang on and win.

Mendy (and his WBC ranking and Silver belt) could be just the springboard he needs to get his name up in lights again on a big show, especially with the confidence of having defeated him already in 2012.

Of course, a) that requires making lightweight and I'm not sure Postol can do that (his last match was at welter) and b) the version of Mendy that I just saw might be the equal of any Postol we have ever seen, meaning we might get a different outcome even if they were campaigning in the same waters.

Of course, it would be a no-lose proposition for Mendy to move up a division or two chasing a Postol rematch...

Lose, and so what? It just repeats an earlier result and doesn't affect his rankings at lightweight, he doesn't lose his belt, and he'll get credit for taking a plucky stab at fighting above his own weight. Win, and he gets to finally avenge a loss (the biggest-name one on his record, no less)

Btw, some of you I know are heavyweight obsessed but if you only have time enough to watch one of the above videos from this card, do yourself a favor and make it Mendy's.

Yvan any relation to Jean Paul, does anyone know?

(the super middleweight that fought in the original Showtime tourney, predating the Super-6 by a couple of years and fully a decade [wow] before the current WSBB tourney at 168lbs - he reached the finals and boxed to a draw with Anthony Hanshaw, and later ended his pro career by getting KTFO twice in a row, once illegally by Sakio Bika and once legit by Lucian Bute)
