Realistically what could Eddie do if Aj chooses not to stay with Matchroom he has Brook and Bellew left as his main fighters obviously he has his new young fighters but he’ll almost be starting again with the old guard eventually retiring... just wanted to know thoughts on Matchroom as a whole if Aj goes

I really like some of the Gb fighters like Josh Kelly and Joe Cordina but I can see some of these new fighters being rushed into big fights just to keep the train going.

It's only a matter of time before he throw's Barry into the core of the Death Star.

It would probably benefit the rest of the stable as they will have to look for new revenue streams.

    He won't leave.
Plus the Eddie/matchroom casuals shouldn't be underestimated in their casualness

AJ is the cash cow, plain and simple. What would it mean for Matchroom if he left? Disaster. Same as if Canelo left golden boy. Same as any business if it lost its most valuable asset/key revenue generator.

Obviously Matchroom would keep going. Eddie, for all his flaws, is very good at his job and I reckon he'd come up with a new strategy. He'd squeeze every last drop out of Kell Brook's career, several more PPVs I reckon, and he'd push harder than ever for the Amir Khan fight. You mention the young guys coming up, and I think its already obvious Josh Kelly has star potential. Didn't Eddie compare him to lomachenko recently? Lol. If AJ was gone he'd take ZERO risks with someone like Kelly - bulk out his record, market him like crazy and see what happens. As long as the deal with Sky stays in place, Matchroom would still have control of the market for the football casuals. So with the right advertising, leading the public to think prospects are 100% the real deal etc., the PPV model might be sustainable.

However, my guess is that Joshua won't leave Matchroom. His career has gone from strength to strength and he's getting paid bags. I don't know if he's the savviest fighter outside of the ring, or the type of guy to do a Mayweather and go it alone. I just get the impression he's happy with Matchroom. If there was a rival offer on the table and Joshua was tempted, Eddie would better it.

Hearn will be absolutely fine. a lot is made of Matchrooms reliance on AJ but they'll be successful with or without him. especially with the way Warren is going

It would be a big blow but they would survive, especially as a business as they are not reliant on boxing. I think AJ has around 2 years left on his contract with is enough time for the next crop of PPV fighters to appear.

I can't imagine PPV revenue is the difference between Matchroom making a profit or a loss. I'm sure it accounts for a lot of their profit, but they'd tick over just fine without it.

Regardless, it seems AJ is happy with Matchroom taking care of promoting his shows while he goes full in with his sponsors.

Matchroom would be absolutely fine, Sky is the reason they would be fine, that is some serious money.

And as for other fighters.. some other fighters might surprise people and start to shine given the bigger stage and more of an opportunity to headline.

Also the likes of Josh Kelly will be starting to capture the imagination of British boxing fans.

The fact is if I was a young man about to turn pro and I believed I was going to go far then I'd sign with Hearn in a heartbeat, it wouldn't even be a debate so I believe they will still be signing the next generation of stars for the foreseeable future.

    The way Warren is going?

    What signing Frampton
Having the two best prospects in the UK
Putting fights on at Elland Road

    Is that what you mean?

AJ has less than a year left on his contract.

Who are these two best prospects? Don’t even dare mutter Yarde’s name.

Silly me I didn’t realise that Frank was dominating the boxing scene up until 2 years ago before AJ became a superstar...
