So does everyone still think that Eubank would beat BJS in a rematch?

If there had been a rematch soon after their first fight, Eubank Jr would have won. Now BJS wins again for sure.

 

Will the pikey move up in weight as CEJ seems set to campaign at 168 now.

 

Saunders at his best and fittest schools Eubank Jr every time.

 

BJS beat him.
Eubank wouldn't sign for the rematch.
He's now moved to a higher weight division.
If he ever found his pen and dropped the extra 8lbs BJS would win again.

 

Before last night I was favouring Eubank, now I'm not sure. Depends on the weight. I'm tipping Eubank to topple Groves so the rematch down the line (BJS Eubank) could be a gripping encounter.

 

There are a lot if factors involved in comparing bjs to Cej, 20.
Cej has a lot of physical and athletic and skill advantages over Lemieux. I don't feel it's certain that Billy Joe could skate around Eubank for 12 rounds like he did to DL. He might...but the pace and work rate and output that CEJ is capable of might crack him in the end.
Don't underestimate how crude and basic and one dimensional DL is..he was made for Billy Joe after all:...and don't underestimate Eubank either.

 

Agree with consensus, BJS wins rematch.

I don't rate Eubank Jr as highly as some others. I respect him of course, he's highly dedicated, and he's developed into a very good fighter. Aggressive, athletic, great engine, throws combinations with speed. But I still maintain, who has he really fought? He stepped up the levels once and got beat. Since that time, he's improved but he still can't box. He's got no jab. He will always struggle against a true boxer. His most impressive wins - Yildirim, O'Sullivan, Blackwell - all guys who stood in front of him, no head movement, and wanted to trade. Speed kills and Eubank kept beating them to the punch.

Groves will beat him if he boxes and moves, and doesn't tire. If Groves does what he did against Jamie Cox ie. holds his feet and trades, then he could get sparked out, because Eubank is a world class brawler.

 

I do agree that Lemieux was very poor, and BJS's fitness wasn't tested the way Eubank would test it.

 

I thought he won the 1st time and I am convinced he wins more clear this time.
All he has to do is take the fight to him, he actually tried to counter punch Saunders the 1st few rounds which was a poor idea. Jr is a much better fighter when he leads than countering.

Still its a good fight and hopefully it happens this year, @ 160 its close to 50/50 but @ 168 Jr wins with something to spare. Jr would lose something draining down to 160, he is huge at the weight and looks much more comfortable @ 168.

I actually think Saunders is the best fighter @ 160 right now, beats Canelo and GGG with something to spare both are too slow footed to beat Billy. Jr doesn't have great footwork but his foot speed is excellent and he can catch Billy.

 

It's a fascinating matchup....you can make a case for each being "all wrong" for the other. One thing though....let's not forget just how depreadful the first fight was. It really was a massive disappointment at the time.


Who has the best style to tackle Billy Joe? It has to be Eubank. Relentless output, work rate, pressure...there might come a point where Billy joes fitness fails him...you never know....

 

I have to say in all honesty that was a superb performance by BJS, even that version would beat ggg and canelo.

He looked so comfortable, i was very impressed.

 

People will change their mind after CEJ beats Groves' ass.

 

I think Eubank will cause BJS problems and to be honest with you no one would put there house on the result.

 

Agree that on last night's evidence, BJS beats Canelo. Canelo is still a little over rated imo. You only have to look at the way Khan boxed rings around him (until he got laid out) to see that BJS would give him problems.

GGG on the other hand, think that's much more complicated fight. He's an elite level boxer as well as a puncher. Look at his jab, his timing, his distance. He cuts off the ring so well, Lemieux was just following Billy around. Given that Jacobs gave GGG a run for his money, you've got to think BJS vs GGG is a close call, but at this point in time I still favour Golovkin. He is getting on for age though.
