Did Saunders impress enough to get GGG/Canelo fight?

As long as Saunders has the WBO belt those fights are there for him. On the contrary, the less impressive he had looked, the more ready GGG/Canelo would have been to make the fight.

GGG won't move up lol, I think it's abundantly clear he's not prepared to do that. He has stayed at MW even when he had no opponents and no obvious pay day. Now that neither of those things is the case, why would he move up?

Saunders has to prove he can beat Canelo first.

GGG of course would want the Canelo rematch first as it's the most lucrative financially. Unfortunately he has no say in what Golden Boy next move is.

Now that Lemieux is out, I doubt golden boy would entertain the idea of Canelo Lemieux.
Canelo Saunders makes sense but there's real danger it will derail the big money rematch with GGG. Saunders has enough size and movement to decision the slightly slow footed Canelo.
    GGG Canelo
    Canelo Saunders
    GGG Saunders.
I hope one of these happens before June next year.

No championship caliber middleweight ever moves up to 168 unless they can't make the weight anymore, or they use it to acclimate to a heavier weight on the way to light heavyweight.

The same relationship holds true with the other original 8 classes.

Why do you think Saunders beats golovkin .he took Lemieux the distance yet triple g annihilated him and actually schooled him aswell.sorry but Saunders is not even on the same level as triple g .

Agree this is broadly true. Chris Eubank Jr an exception? Perhaps you don't consider him championship calibre

I don't think it counts as ducking when he faced Canelo.

Even now, it wouldn't be ducking if he faced Canelo again. It arguably wouldn't be ducking if he faced Jacobs ahead of BJS neither.

We could see him fighting twice a year, and the whole of 2018 featuring two fights against Canelo, then the first fight of 2019 featuring a rematch with Jacobs but that wouldn't mean he ducked BJS.

This is so typical of boxing. GGG is past his prime. I am a big GGG fan but he is moving into the Pacman stage. So unfortunate GGG didn't get more of these big fights when he was younger. Having said that, though, I don't think Saunders has a chance against Canelo or GGG.

I would love to see Saunders fight Charlo! I bet Charlo knocks him out.

There are plenty of examples and if you hadn't noticed GGG is struggling to make the weight!!!!

Well Jr could still go up to light heavyweight and is just entering his prime, could go back down again for a big fight too

I see no evidence GGG is struggling to make weight. In fact, I would say Canelo is the one struggling to make weight. GGG seems like a natural MW.

I think he is title caliber, and there were some great matchups for him at 160.

The biggest issue was that he was also a massive middleweight. Had he beaten Saunders there, maybe he drains a bit longer to land one of the bigger name fighters before moving up....but I think he was due to outgrow it, along with his team not being ready for GGG at that point in time when he had a chance to make the fight.

Yes. Let's unify the division. Let's unify all divisions, while we're at it.
