Breazeale-Ugonoh is among the finalists for RING's Round of the Year (Round 3)! I hope it wins, but it's facing tough competition from Roman-Salido, Joshua-Klitschko, Alvarez-Golovkin, and Rungvisai-Gonzalez II.
Izu is talented there's no denying that and I agree his strategy was suicidal with the tempo he adopted but my overall view with him is a guy who is way to muscled for a prolonged 12 rounds at top level. Whilst he's tall he is heavily muscled and is frame is that of a cruiserweight, a weight in which he was at 3 or 4 years ago and I think it'd of suited him to stay there instead of bulking up. I honestly think he's too small to reach top level at heavyweight.
What about Manuel Charr and/or Fres Oquendo? The latter two will be competing for the WBA "Regular" Heavyweight Title next March. Do you think Izu would have a chance against either Charr or Oquendo?
Indeed, among the winners of Ring Magazine's Year-End Awards in the Round of the Year category was Round 3 of Breazeale-Ugonoh! Some recognition, not bad, and Ugonoh not completely disregarded. Hopefully he can build on this in his ring return this year. His goal for 2018 is to get in the ring three times and emanate victorious on all of those occasions. Although the quality of boxing was certainly great in 2017 and has picked up in recent times, I still believe that the heavyweight scene is more open than it appears. And I am sticking to my prediction: I believe that despite his advancing age Luis Ortiz will still defeat Deontay Wilder and the myth will finally get exposed, and AJ-Wilder will never come to fruition (hence why I believe the scene is open at heavyweight).
