You're joking, right? Maidana is a caveman. The only thing that would give Loma trouble is fighting at 140.

 

Weight can be a factor in pro boxing

It's tough tho I feel the fight could go to decision. Have to give Maidana the edge. Less technically sound/genius but he's bigger and a good boxer with a proven punch.

 

Maidana could also box, reminds me of Ponce Deleon. Slugger/Boxer-Puncher

 

Loma is still unproven especially in the context of how he reacts to being hit by big power punchers such as Chino. I dunno, I can't pick one as its still an known.

Dude. Lomo hasn't fought above 130 ever. Quit trying to make folks hate him. You have more faith than the Pope if you pick Lomo here.

 

Maidana is a good size 140 that can carry welter easily.
Too much unknown about Loma above 130. This match up would have to wait. It's not fair to both.
But if I have to chose, I will still pick Loma. I can't help thinking how an old Morales was able to school Maidana in spots.

Loma likes to fight in Maidana's preferred range and Mai is a tough fighter in that range, not saying Loma doesn't have a shot, as he does with his excellent footwork and sudden angle change, but Mai is just a rough and gritty fighter, Floyd found that out in the first fight which is why he opted to not engage in that range or stay in that range too long the next fight....Loma would have to fight in Mai's range and man....that's a LONG night for him!

Especially since he will be the smaller fighter.

 

I watched a Seckback YT video where he ***spoiler alert and shock*** asked Robert about Loma, how unbelievably good he is, how he does in sparring - you know, pretty much par for the course.

I can't be positive and way too lazy to go check, but they were talking about how he blitzes all his sparring partners, 3 guys at once, rinse, repeat. Then Seckback said he heard Loma was sparring Chino and pantsing him but wanted to know if there was any validity to be had there. Robert confirmed they had been sparring, but he's way too much of a professional to air out really negative stuff about sparring stories, and he said something to the effect that they had been sparring, that there were three whole weight classes in between each fighter's respective weight class, and that the first three rounds Maidana could keep it somewhat competitive but from there on Loma made him look like any of his other sparring partners.

Sparring is sparring, it's for the preparation and improvement of both participants. If you want to make mistakes and learn from them, sparring is your huckleberry. Both fighters are also competing hard, depending on the type of sparring, but I doubt Garcia would be commenting on it if these were "light" sparring sessions or isolation sessions. Some dudes are just gamers, they look like crap in practice and then hit the game and look invincible. Garcia is a very smart guy and is a boxing genius and can analyze these things like a genius. I think if he thought either was a "gamer" type of guy, he probably wouldn't have commented because Seckback wanted to know if this dude really was the goods that early in his career.

140 seems too high for Loma IMO though. I don't want to disrespect either fighter, they both deserve a load of it, so not gonna place a fantasy prediction, just putting out there what I saw and heard on YT.

 

Maidana at 147 was something else.
At 140, Loma picks him apart.

 

Well Maidana schooled Floyd Mayweather jr so it is not a end of the world to lose this caveman.
