Eh. Its fair I guess. Seeing as how its Rafaels show we know it was going to a Top Rank guy. LOL. Nah but seriously it was probably either him or Loma anyway.

I hate the fact ESPN select their year-end awards when they know full well that Japan has new year fights every year.

Another that's BS is Srisaket Sor Rungvisai not making the list for FOTY nor Milan Melindo.

yeh i guess its fair choice hes had that almost unification win whilst retaining all his own titles.

The others are a little behind.

3G came close but he only drew, so you cant really say hes done better despite his opponent being better.

Nomas too, with an elite win.

Whilst Kovalev is simply coming back to being a titlist.... we expect more of him now.We expect top level krushing.

On principle yes, although I think in this case nothing happening this weekend is apt to affect things much.

I wonder if the outcome would have been the same if Indongo didn't have a belt...

People can whine about ESPN having pro-American bias all they want, you can't say Crawford isn't at least in the conversation for this honor.

If Indongo hadn't beaten an undefeated champion to win the IBF belt, and defended it successfully? What are you on about. That's like saying would he still be fighter of the year if he had no fights

Actually, out of five nominees (Terence Crawford, Mikey Garcia, Anthony Joshua, Vasiliy Lomachenko, Srisaket Sor Rungvisai) only two were Americans.

I'm wondering if the glamour of all four belts was a factor. Sorry, but Diaz and Indongo do not a Fighter of the Year make. Just like Dlaticanin and Broner do not a Fighter of the Year make (as Mikey was nominated for).

..and the Garcia family actually consider themselves Mexican first and foremost. (at least I know Roberto has gone on record saying he identifies that way, even though their parents had immigrated here from Mexico before the eldest of the siblings was born)

Lots of 2nd-gen Chicanos despite their Californian birthplace, actually do rep Mexico in the amateurs (see: Jessie Vargas for instance), further blurring the lines of nationality for such purposes. I think Mikey always fought on the US team, however, but don't quote me on that.

Well Uncle Bob and ESPN are now partners, so there's clearly a conflict of interest here.
