This only proves you can't believe much of what Foreman says. He's so far off the mark it's comical

 

Ali got his footwork from Baer... you can't make this sh1t up lol

I agree with your statement, that Foreman is an unreliable observer (no offence to him), but this might well be a case where he spoke his mind.

Baer is Foreman's stylistic twin, and he even copied the cross armed defense, that Baer used later in his career!

We know that he idolized Joe Louis, and would likely have been influences by his high opinion of Baer.

So maybe!

Archie Moore trained/advised the Young Foreman. More than likely Foreman got his "cross-armed" defense concept from being around Archie (who was famous for that type of defense).

 

Maybe he’s referring to the Ali shuffle that Baer did against Primo.

 

I think hes confusing baer for braddock, since max baer is foremans twin and Braddock and ali both were elusive

Max Baer had some pretty good footwork at his best.
More akin to a Tyson Fury than a Muhammad Ali.

 

I wouldn't compare it with either, but certainly not Ali
