BJS's win over Eubanks Jr the most underrated win in boxing?

Yeah I think it's kind of underrated. People doubted Eubank before that fight and wrote off Eubank after that loss. They said he wasn't any good and to be fair he's still unproven, but if he beats Groves which I think he will then it shows Eubank belongs at world level and that win for BJS was better than people thought.

Having said that I think Eubank Jr was a little green then. His tactics were all wrong for that fight and he's learned from that loss. BJS was the more experienced fighter, having turned pro over 3 years earlier and had fought on a much higher level as an amateur and had almost double as many amateur fights.

Hopefully we get to see a rematch at some point, if both are champions and don't lose, it could be a big fight in the UK.

Any win over Eubank isn't to be sniffed at but he was very raw then.

eubank was britlevel, bj left that behind a while ago now.

I would say its eubanks stock that rose slightly in view of what BJ has done.

london boy groves isnt all that but he will kill eubie, maybe retire him too lol.

 

Saunders done what every top boxer would still do all Eubank best wins all had been exposed as basic with not alot of boxing skills and the Abraham fight was great match making Abraham was never much at super middle he was completely lost in the Saunders fight and if groves isn't shot everyone will see eubank lost against unless it's great match making again and they think groves is shot that explains why that joke hasn't pulled out

 

Honestly I have to eat some crow here. I both referred to them as domestic level -- I thought if are on the same level they're bound to be very mediocre and wouldn't last on the world level. Well they proved me wrong, they are both world level now.

 

George Groves is going to defeat EUbank Jr and unless I am seriously mistaken GG the Saint is going to chin him and stop him. If Eubanks Jr thought BJS was tough then he is in for a rude awakening against my mate George Groves.

If he beats Groves I might be able to rate him. But even that wouldn't say anything about Saunders win over him years ago.

 

For the most underrated win in the last few years, look at Devon Alexander's whitewashing of Maidana- the most lopsided loss of Chino's career out of a resume chock full of tough fights in which he was always competitive.

People just act like it never happened.

 

Good win , but Eubank was regional level at the time and BJS was on the cusp of world level .. and it was still a close fight.
It would be like Ted Cheeseman fighting Bradley Skeete right now.

I remember being really excited for that fight. It was a huge step up at the time for Eubank, but many (myself included) thought he was ready for that kind of jump. Watching the fight was frustratingly reminiscent of watching Sr. back in the day - passively giving away silly rounds before coming on when it's too late. At the time I believed Eubank could've won that fight if he had applied himself more. Now I'm not so sure...but he was SO green at the time of that fight. Respect for stepping up early.

Saunders is legit though, and I think most Brits have known that for some time. It has been irritating watching the US media overlook him in favour of others. I'm not a fan of BJS's out of the ring antics AT ALL. That may hamper him to many (especially Dan Rafael...). BUT I think he makes easy work of Canelo - too big, too slick, great movement. He's a disaster for Canelo IMO. GGG is a competitive fight, and a tough one for both guys, as each represent the others kryptonite.

 

I disagree I didn't think he won and Jr took Saunders lightly too, carelessly giving away the 1st couple of rounds.

Saunders fought to the best of his ability and still needed home cooking.

Rematch doesn't go to the cards, Saunders gets a beating, worse than Groves is about to get.

You are right it was an underrated win.
Saunders MW resume for 26 fights is rather impressive with A Lee, Eubank Jnr, Munroe, Lemieux, O'Sullivan.
at one time, in a run of 7 fights, Saunders beat 5 undefeated fighters, 4 of them in a row. Out of those 4 beaten in a row, one in now EBU MW champ (Blandamura), one just had a decent win (O'Sullivan), another is in line to contesting a SMW world title next (Eubank Jnr) and the other in his last fight beat the WBAs #1 ranked fighter at SMW in Nielsen in his last fight (Ryder).
