Really? Didn’t he say that Bowe was the best heavyweight he ever trained? Better than Frazier, Norton or Holmes?

No, he said he had the potential to be. He didn't make it.

Bowe lost his legacy over his choice not to fight Lewis. A win over a prime Lewis and Holyfield would have cemented him into the top 10. But even though the Olympic stoppage wouldn't have been a stoppage in the pro's Bowe knew he would have been out gunned any time they fought, especially after the way he saw Lewis destroy Ruddock.

Bowe was more natural and fluid, but he didn't have the mental game to beat Lewis. He walked up to Lewis after a fight( cant remember which one) he just won, Lewis was ringside commentator, and Bowe was like "I thought we were cool" Lewis was having none of it "we gonna call you chicken Bowe now"...Lewis was the alpha male and Bowe knew his place !

Bowe hurts Lewis early ,not enough to knock him down but scramble the senses .But Lennox rides the Storm. By the fifth round Bowes lookin gassed. Lewis piles in to him in the sixth and drops Bowe heavy. Two kd s later it's all over .Lewis by 6round tko .

Timing is everything in this one.

    1) For the first time they were supposed to fight in 1993 - and at this point I think Bowe wins by TKO. He just peaked sooner than Lennox and was a complete package back then. Jab, chin & unique in-fighting ability - he had it all. I don't think Lewis was ready for that in 1993.

    2) For the second time they were supposed to fight in late 1996. Bowe took Golota I as "stay busy" fight and was expected to face Lennox next. And at this point Riddick would've been badly beaten. After brutal wars with Holyfield and Golota Bowe was done. He still had a chin of a warrior, but that was about it. Lewis was entering his prime and I have no doubt that he wins this one at this point.

    MYTAKE FOR WHAT ITS WORTH
Holy came in extra light at 205 in order to box him(which is the smart. sensible gameplan, holyfields only physical advantages on paper were hand and footspeed) but his brother was murdered before the fight which enraged him. That, as well as the general disrespect the boxing public showed him plus some overconfidence after being an undefeated champ for 2 years, all of this led holy to slug it out with bowe and try to knock him out despite having trained for the opposite strategy.

He either never gave Bowe the respect he had for Foreman(who he boxed for the most part) or he just let things get under his skin like in Lewis 1.
Hoyfield tightened up his defense and became a much smarter fighter from the loss.

Imo Foreman would have beat Holyfield as well(and maybe worse) if Evander had been arrogant enough to fight him like he did Bowe and try to knock him out.

Obviously it was a great fight and a courageous effort by both guys but i really think that Bowe was fortunate that holyfield was fighting pretty stupid. Bowes choice of title defenses and opponents and his performances against those same guys after the holyfield fight is also really questionable and tbh quite pathetic.

He never showed he could take a big shot from an elite KO artist. Bulked up holyfield hurt, backed up and wobbled him in the rematch with single shots(a 30 pound smaller man!!!) then he basically knocked him out for an entire round with a single hook in the rubber match after Holyfield looked like he was about to keel over from a heart attack for the preceding 4 rounds. Golota was no featherfist but for his size his power was above average but never in the league of Lewis, klitschko, foreman, tyson or Bowe for that matter. And while Bowe showed incredible heart, his punch resistance again looked really bad against golota.

I would say Bowes punch resistance against holyfield looked worse than Lewis' in direct comparison. And it looked worse against golota than lewis chin looked against vitali. God knows Lewis fought way waaaaaay more big punchers in his career.

I also think that based on the golota, biggs, tubbs fights a good tall boxer with decent footowrk like Tucker, focused douglas or Lewis would beat him.

So I have to favor Lewis whether theyre banging or Boxing either way

Bowe just kicked Holyfield's ass, the undisputed heavyweight champion, his confidence was certainly high at that point, and it was Lewis who seemed nervous and just repeated the same sentence over and over while Bowe was in his face.
Lewis came across like a real douche, acting like he is high class and hating his own race, insulting Bowe with the word "nig.ger"

92 _94 I think Bowe would win late stoppage at that point he was a more complete fighter Lewis was still a bit amateurish .Peak for peak Lewis wins .

I analysed that situation and came to the conclusion that it was Lennox who exhibited fear and self doubt due to him muttering the same sentence over and over. He did not posses the mental clarity being in the presence of such a dominating and intimidating figure to construct a comeback other than 'chicken Bowe' 3-4 times in succession.
Big Daddy most certainly bossed that encounter with the more varied trash talk and thats why you you saw the Lion toddle off with his tail between his legs. :rambo1:

Cant see the race thing what so ever..Lennox Lewis had zero personality, Bowe was charismatic, I also would've liked to see Big Daddy win if they fought, but it just wasn't happening ! Don't black people call each other N all the time though ?
