Malik was on his bicycle all fight and has some of the best and fastest footwork in the division.

Scuba Scott ran round the ring quicker than Hughie Fury. It was even more disgraceful than when he collapsed after being tapped by his pal Wilder. Sure Granpa Ortiz wasn't quick enough to catch him but that farce of a "fight" tells us nothing.

Wilder didn't stop him either lol. Actually Wilder didn't stop:

    Stiverne in the first match.
Duhaupas, who was eating his power shots like candy.
Washington, maybe the most ridiculous windmill stoppage in history. Alabama was lit up the whole week.
Arreola, who just thought he's done enough to collect money.

Credit to Wilder for stopping iron-jawed Szpilka and almost a full-time boxer Molina, after losing most of the rounds to one and almost getting KTFO by the other.

Ortiz was only 48 then, I think he's finally hit his prime at 50 bro.

I said going into the Scott fight he'd struggle. First thing I look at when assessing a fighter is their footwork and Ortiz looked like a fighter who needs to set his feet to punch. Which obviously means any kind of movement will give him issues.

Scott I think is underrated. His main problem along with a lack of power seems to be he lacks belief so when under pressure he folds. He did it vs Chisora when he stayed down for the 10 count, when he dived vs Wilder and then when he fought Ortiz. Had Scott shown a little more self belief I think he could of given Ortiz a much closer fight.

Scott clearly set the blue print to beat Ortiz. I expect Wilder to stick and move and win a decision. But of course one mistake and Ortiz will pounce and with Wilder's chin one chance is maybe all that Ortiz needs.

So sick of the Scott fight being brought up as an indictment on Ortiz. Scott's last fight he had beat a fringe top ten, clear top 15 hw at the time in Thompson. Scott himself was a fringe top ten, clear top 15 hw when beaten by Ortiz. Ortiz won every round and kdd him repeatedly while Scott was in survival mode. That was a perfectly good performance in line with what you would expect from a clear top 5 HW, as Ortiz is.

People harp on stuff like this for a whole bunch of fighters and it's not rational: when you are fighting at the top level, you don't always look great. Getting a win, especially a clear win, is perfectly acceptable. It's true for Ortiz Scott, Wilder Washington, AJ Whyte, and a bunch of other examples.

Don't hyperventilate over a winning performance from a top fighter against another top fighter, chances are they'll make you forget all about it in the next fight as happened for most of the above(and might happen for Ortiz in his next fight).

Ortiz is probably the sort of fighter that fights to the level of his opponent or he just couldn't be bothered to chase after Scott

Ortiz ages like wine, not milk. He gets stronger as he gets older.

If memory serves, that was one of the few fights where one of the combatants really was “just running.”

Like Scott was just ****ing fleeing for his life.

It goes to show how terrifying and and dangerous Kong is when he sends Scott fleeing around the ring in fear. Scott was so afraid he even tried to get the ref to count him out.
Imagine if Wilder actually beats this savage beast . :eeek:
