l realize many fans believe boxing is corrupt and l don't neccessarily disagree with them, but anytime a ref focuses on the safety of the fighters l'm always going to give him the benefit of the doubt. l wasn't a fan of the Lewis stoppage either, though this is far more contriversal, but again the fighters safety should always come first. In my view even the Klitschko -Lewis fight should have been stopped earlier. And yes in hindsite the Taylor fight should have gone the distance but the ref still did his job and that's the bottom line.

never mind just flicked it on to see and wow

quintana landed that same left that Martinez did a few times. it's clear Williams never learned from that fight

quintana much like collazo fought every one

I remember when he exposed undefeated Joel Julio on hbo earlier in his career

Ya pretty crazy huh .. I watched it live too and Quintana gave him a boxing lesson that night .. Williams was champ, undefeated and just was so hyped up that I think Floyd even said at one point he didn't want Williams because he was to big for him, if I remember correctly. But Harold bought into the hype too I think .. Throughout the fight he was saying how Williams was dominating Quintana and landing the more, cleaner shots and that just wasn't the case

That seems like a curious thing to say. Could you explain further?

Taylor was up in a corner. There was 2 seconds left to go in the fight. Chavez was in a neutral corner and would not have floored him again.

If Taylor was really that hurt, he would not have gotten up. And even if he went down again ( He would not have due to the time ) Steele could have quickly waived it off.

In the final round, with Taylor in the lead you should let them fight. Taylor's corner could throw in the towel any time. His corner didn't think he was that hurt.

What we have here is a ref who was very unaware of the situation and based on his actions changed the outcome.

Disagree. The ref was very aware of the outcome & is certainly aware of who butters his bread. And this fight, like a ton of others, saw the DKP fighter get the benefit of the doubt in a cross promotion.

2 seconds on the clock, both men in neutral corners. fight resumes, bell rings. unless chavez was "the flash" no way could he have crossed the ring and landed a punch.
remember, tyson was in jail at the time. chavez was don kings only and MAIN meal ticket at that time. his money would have taken a dive if chavez had lost. yes, bad stoppage!

Taylor was hurt in a serious way as if the philly had been beaten out of his body but I was excited for JCC as a fan but sad for Taylor because he had beaten JCC and fought the fight of his career and it was obvious he was really damaged and would never be able to fight that level again...I still feel the same

I agree I never bought into Steele being aware of two seconds left like some say he was as caught up in the fight as many fans the heat of the moment caused him to lose track of the clock......even though the time keeper gives the 10 sec warning anytime I reffed sometimes I was ready to jump in and sometimes I was ready to give a fighter the benefit of the doubt

I had mixed feelings about it tbh, but i was a Boxing fan and i liked both fighters, Chavez was attempting to get to 100-0 etc, and i wanted him to get it, Taylor i thought had the ability, i was rooting for both.

    1. i wanted jc to continue after and get his 100-0.
    2. I always like the underdog and always root for him, and i thought Taylor would just come up short, but he gave an excellent display, and was winning in my eyes.

The outcome psised me off for all reasons, was it too soon, was it a special relationship Steele-King i dont know.

The arguments on this one are far and wide, with for and against on both sides, the ref is not the timekeeper, he doesn't know how long is left etc.

I know we have the ten second slap to indicate how long is left, so the ref should have known how long and let it continue knowing the bell should have gone or is coming, by the time MT had gotten up had his gloves wiped, the fighters would have been told to fight on, then the bell goes to end it, Simple.

As the late great Angelo Dundee once said, "Controversy" DYNAMITE, People want to see more.

This is what people refuse to admit. Even if Chavez literally ran across the ring he wouldn't have been able to land anything.

As for the ref not being a time keeper, this is true, but the ref paying attention when there's 10 seconds left is common sense. It affects the outcome of a fight when the ref is alert and aware that time is rapidly running out as two guys are fighting. A ref who isn't paying attention when the time keeper makes the banging sound as a warning is a bad ref.
